Kind caring knowledgeable patient

Dr Gurske/Deperio was my 3rd opinion and I'm so glad I wanted one more. She is amazing. Her bedside manor is amazing. She just has a way of making you feel great. No matter how bad the situation is. She was convincing but not pushy. She has spent lots of time with me, even called me on her day off when I had dumb questions. I still have weeks to go before I can walk without a boot or a cane, but I'm so glad I took her advice.

Dr Gurske I researched many surgeons and chose Dr Gurske because she previously was a physical therapist prior to becoming a surgeon. Dr Gurske was most informative and answered all of my questions and or concerns prior to surgery. She was kind, considerate and patient. I had extensive ankle reconstructive surgery due to a birth deformity and many other issues that needed surgery as well. Dr Gurske is “truly a gifted surgeon “. I’m recovering now and all is progressing nicely after a four plus month non weight bearing existence. You need to consider the post operative recovery seriously which for me was lengthy and trying. I followed Dr Gurske’s instructions perfectly to heal properly after such a major surgery. I didn’t realize how intense my pain was before until now, I now only have soreness and stiffness at the end of the day but that is to be expected. Physical therapy has had a very positive outcome during post recovery and instrumental in my healing process. I had to… train my brain and muscle memory to walk straight for the first time in my life. It hasn’t been an easy process. Unfortunately I am in my late sixties now, the younger you are the better for any surgery. One day at a time. I am facing another surgery in a year for my other foot and am confident with Dr Gurske performing my next surgery. Also, I must mention Dr Gurske’s physician’s assistant Nora was very attentive, kind and caring throughout the post operative visits. Rosalie L.

I have been a patient of Dr Jennifer Deperio for over 5 years. I originally went to her for Achilles Insertional Calcific Tendinosis. She tried several options before sugergy was the only outcome. She explained everything very clearly. The surgery was a breeze. No pain meds other than ibuprofen were needed. The scar on my calf that was need to tighten the achilles tendon is bearly visible along with the heel scar. She was very conscious of my age and health. She recommended several different options that she may not have done if I had been a younger person. After being treated for this I have been seeing her for arthritis in both of my knees. I have told her more than once that I wish she was a Primary Care Physician because I would go to her in a heart beat. I would recommend her to anyone. She listens, explains things and is a very caring doctor. I can't say enough good things about her.

I am so thankful! Dr Gurske explains everything. She is very intent on answering all questions and makes sure everyone is on the same page. I feel as though she is extremely hands on and is looking for what’s best for her patients. Her staff is all wonderful and all knowledgeable. I am very pleased with my decision to choose this office for my ankle injury and surgery.

She was eloquent in her explanation of the procedure, thorough in her examination of my ankle, and laid out expectations for proper recovery, making certain that I understood every aspect of the process. I followed her instructions to the letter, and was back up and moving precisely on schedule.

I cannot say enough great things about Doctor Gurske! She is an amazing doctor who not only treated my 90 year old mother but also myself when I had the horrible experience of of dealing with Plantar Faciitis! Doctor Gurske explained everything in great detail to me about my injury and made it very easy for me to understand! Truthfully I never have seen a specialist spend so much time making her patient understand what was going on in both my experience with my mom and myself! She is a fabulous doctor and a even better person! I would highly recommend Doctor Gurske ,she is very rare in the way she deals with and spends so much time with her patients,I have yet to find a doctor like her! I would give her 10 stars if I could!

I came to Dr. Guerske on recommendation of my physical therapist after a very unpleasant consultation with another local ankle surgeon. She is very knowledgeable, was very honest with me about why she disagreed with the first opinion I received (I did too which was why I came to her!). Dr. Guerske was willing to do the diagnostics to confirm her diagnosis--my MRI showed lots of fluid and inflammation and did not show a tear where the other surgeon indicated. She told me she suspected I had a tear in a tendon right near my ankle bone which she explained is usually impossible to see on an MRI due to how it hugs the bone. She was spot on! I had not one but TWO tears when they opened my ankle up to clean out the fluid and inflammation. I had them take pictures so that I could see what kind of damage I had done to myself. One was able to be repaired and one was not and thus removed. I am now 8 weeks out and recovery has been as good as can be expected--no nerve damage, I was walking and… driving at 6 weeks! The entire surgical team at ECMC outpatient was phenomenal. Best surgery experience I have ever had--I did not get sick at all, and trust me I have a bad track record with anesthesia! Get on her waiting list and call periodically to check for cancellations. She's totally worth the wait! :)
