Dr. Jennifer Theresa Johner, MD

I was given a 1% risk factor for this surgery, and indeed the surgery came off just as the surgeon expected. I walked the halls, felt good, returned to my room where I hemorrhaged and passed out. the nurses say I lost about half my blood supply w/in minutes. Unfortunately my surgeon had left the the hospital, but (providentially) Dr. Johner, my anesthesiologist, decided to swing by my room to check on me one more time. My kids, who were in the room, said Dr. J immediately took charge of everyone one and everything. She rushed me back into surgery while the surgeon was summoned. Dr. J thought to have a quality moment with my family, calming them and explaining what my surgeon would be doing. She even hopped on the phone to explain everything to my husband who had been given a confident OK to go ahead and proceed with his business trip. She explained everything in a reassuring way that everyone could understand and which gave peace and reassurance to the whole family. A day later her… lovely face appeared again in my doorway to ask how I was doing. I wish I could have gotten out of bed to hug and thank her properly. She's a gem.
