Dr. Jennifer J Kelly, DO

Had my initial visit and am pleased she is a DO since I am very holistic in beliefs and the origins of osteopathy are less conventional than the AMA. She listened very carefully, which I found extremely refreshing and hopeful. Recommendations were made and she was not pushy about my taking the pharmaceuticals. Dr Kelly is understanding that I need to investigate the drugs and will follow up later. Ordered appropriate labs and the UVM staff was very nice and efficient. Note, this was an initial visit, so we will see how all goes as this unfolds. Therefore, cautiously optimistic.

You will be seen for exactly 5 minutes, if that. People who work the lab and take your blood are inexperienced and do a terrible job. I was called and told to come back because they messed up my tube of blood with the your label. Pathetic! But they still bill you the exact same amount of money.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kelly for treatment of chronic disease for many years. My experience with her has been positive. She is competent in her field and understanding of my needs and concerns. I have access to her quickly if I need help managing my disease. She has shown willingness to listen and to try alternative therapies at my request (as long as they will not be harmful to my health, in her opinion as a physician). She is pleasant, open to discussion and thorough.

She was very friendly and had a nice smile, but her answer for everything was, "Oh, that's in the normal range." I had to push for over a year, after being a patient of hers for over 4 years because I had no other options, to get her to check my antibodies (I was currently Dx w/Hypothyroidism. ) Th tests came back with my numbers abnormally, exceedingly high. The only way I knew this was because they'd sent me a copy in the mail. I called 3 times to speak with someone to see if I needed to make an appointment to go over the results. Each time I spoke with a nurse, even after requesting Dr. Kelly, she was a mere middleman and couldn't answer any questions. Finally, after much digging on my own, I discovered that my symptoms and results were highly indicative of severe Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. When I mentioned this to the nurse she said, "We know you have that." Seriously! No one had ever thought to inform me, the patient. When I asked when I should schedule my next appointment … to discuss this, she said about 9 months. I haven't returned and highly advise against wasting your time and health on someone who is evidently just there for the paycheck.
