Horrible experience! These people use scare tactics to sell prenatal tests. They keep you waiting for hours and hours, while you stress out about your baby's health. We were kept waiting for 1.5 hours just to see the doctor after completing a 20 week ultrasound. The tech told us the doctor would need to tell us the results, so we were nervous and couldn't leave. Finally after waiting 1.5 hours, Dr. Jennifer Merriman comes in and tells us the baby has a choroid plexus cyst (but no other markers) and that the CPC alone might mean he has Trisomy 18, which is usually FATAL. The doctor proceeded to offer me a ton of prenatal testing, including amniocentesis, and a variety of expensive blood tests. However, since we had been at the office for 3.5 hours already and they were about to close for their lunch break, the doctor made me come back to the office in two hours to have my blood drawn for a prenatal test. I left in tears, but returned two hours later, as instructed, for my blood draw.… Upon arrival, the office was CLOSED for the rest of the day. After spending almost 4 hours for an ultrasound appointment, I was forced to take additional time off from work and come back for the blood draw later that week. The whole time I was an emotional rack, worrying about the health of my baby. I came to find out later, by doing my own research, that the odds of a having a Trisomy 18 diagnosis with ONLY A choroid plexus cysts and no other markers was about 1%. My baby turned out completely healthy but the doctor unnecessarily scared me and stressed me out for weeks. I know other mothers who have had the same experience at this place. I do not recommend Delaware Center for Maternal and Fetal Medicine to anyone.
