Dr. Jennifer Piehl, MD

Beware of asking questions. Dr. Piehl is offended and considers it hostile.

Love her, she is a very involved Dr who loves her job and her patients. She is excellent at diagnosis, referrals to specialists and doesn't hesitate to deal with any medical issues that arise. Wouldn't think of anyone better to go to for my child.

My wife and i chose Dr. Piehl based on two important conditions 1) Her affiliation with St. Joseph's Hospital, where our son was born and 2) prior reviews indicating she was open to "alternative" vaccine schedules. Our mission was simple, find a doctor who is pleasant, treats our son with respect and is open to discussion regarding our concern regarding vaccines. We accomplished 1 of 3. Dr. Piehl made it VERY clear that she did not agree with our decision to delay and/or refuse to vaccinate our child. She first attempted to persuade us first by giving us her personal and professional reasoning. Then she used medical stories as scare tactics (mind you she frequents the PICU where her exposure to cases is greater). Lastly, she flat out told us that our medical insurer (Aetna HMO) mandated that all her HMO patients are vaccinated or we would be dropped. Which one is it? All the above? Once I explained to her that appreciated her expertise, BUT decided not vaccinate as recommended… she threw a non-verbal fit. She was quite upset and her body language and change in demeanor spoke volumes. Each visit was excruciating. My wife felt down right miserable having to see her for our son's wellness check ups. My wife felt very uncomfortable as Dr. Piehl displayed a hostile attitude in all, but one appointment. I unfortunately did not take a pro-active approach to change pediatricians until I received a message today from Dr. Piehl informing us that she had to drop our son as a patient because we had not vaccinated him as her office policy requires. Makes you almost powerless, but I am determined to find a true progressive doctor who is not bound to "Insurance red tape" or "personal" agendas. I am writing this review to make sure other parents looking to make educated choices do not get their hopes up with this Doctor, although she is willing to work on a schedule as long all the vaccines are completed by age 2. "Alternative" schedule is a loose term as we have found out.

I am so disappointed with Dr. Piehl. In fact every doctor in that office I found to be extremely rude.

We love all of the doctors we've dealt with at this practice, and Dr. Piehl is the best. Spends ample time answering our questions, always calls back promptly when we need her, and our littles love her, too.

The staff is very welcoming and remembers your name. Dr. Piehl is amazing very caring and genuinely cares about your child, she was my daughters first pediatrician and as a new mom i was a nervous mom but she guided me through everything, my daughter also is visually impaired which i thought was going to be a problem with any Dr but DR.Piehl was very prompt to all my daughters needs ex. chart notes/waivers/approvals/refrences she single handed aided my daughter all around. Great Dr. !

Dr. Piehl is a great pediatrician. She answers all my questions and never makes me feel rushed. She explains things in a clear and understandable manner. She gives instructions in an easy to follow manner. We are also able to discuss things when we share a different opintion. When I have challenges with my daughter, she always has a solution that works. I am so grateful that she is our pediatrician and I have recommended her to at least five family and friends.

Great "office" experience, but it is clear that the doctor's at this location are heavily influenced by the insurance companies that pay their bills. We are consistently questioned about why we aren't following the recommended schedule of vaccinations. When we describe our concerns about a politicized FDA and sky rocketing autism and childhood diabetes we are told horror stories about that 1 in 1,000 child with whooping cough. What about the 1 in 150 kids with autism. I haven't received a single flyer about that. And it takes months before you will get a referral if you have an HMO.

She is the best Doc for our 2 boys, they love her and we wouldn't change docs for anything

She has such a way with my son and is always concerned of his well being. Each time I go in she remembers us and what we were there about the last time. She also follow's up to make sure that my son's issues from the previous visit have been taken care of. If I need to follow up with anyone or just need any phone number to any specialist she makes sure that either she provides it to me or that one of her staff memebers provide it to me. She is the best and I couldn't have chosen a better doctor for my son. Thank you Dr. Piehl.
