Dr. Jennifer M Rhodes, PhD

She is matter of fact, focused, well-informed. But she has a kind of extreme cancelation policy where you are charged for the full appointment cost if you do not cancel within I think 2-3 days - even if you are sick or have an emergency, so I opted to see someone else. I can't rate her staff because she manages her own office, but she was curteous.

I saw this doc after seeing several other psychs over the years for a recurring issue. I would rate her among the best, and I would def. recommend her. It's hard to rate a psychiatrist because there is basically no "cure" in psychiatry, the symptoms for various disorders overlap, and diagnosis can take months to get right, which can annoy the patients. It can take several opinions from different docs to get the right diagnosis and treatment.So I will express my rating in as much unbiased wording as I can.PROS- She is energetic and very eager to help, generally skilled with diagnosis, and calls back very quickly if I have any issues or questions. (My last doctor did not call back at all.) She was very serious, but I don't see how this can be a fault, so I do not agree with the reviewer below who said she is a "robot" - that seems a bit crazy. But if you are looking for a doctor who is bubbly, warm and fuzzy - she is not that. Dr. Rhodes is more intellectual and reserved, but she seems… to work hard to find solutions.Personally, what I care about most is an accurate diagnosis from a dr. who is respectful and qualified.Her prices are good - much lower than Manhattan, which is great.Takes credit cards.CONS- Does not take any insurance, but that is now so common that I just accept it as part of the deal. She has no secretary so has to manage all her call backs in the office and the phone can ring a lot as you walk in.Needs to update her website.

Dr. Rhodes was insightful and compassionate. I definitely would encourage others to user her. Also, very easy to get to her office, which is a nice place to spend an hour.

I agree with the other commenter. I think she went into psychiatry thinking it is a good money maker. She did not show any of the caring or concern that the next Dr. I saw had. Once my case got difficult she got exasperated with me and made me feel like crap. My next Dr. actually asked me to call her pretty much every day until I was stable. That's what good Drs do.

Essentially, Dr Rhodes is very dilligent.Her initial interview with me was thorough and she has frequently followed up with my psychologist on the phone, outside office hours.I've always felt that she's an attentive listener during our appointments, and that she's genuinely concerned for my wellbeing.That said, I'm not all that comfortable with her as a person - I feel she just doesn't quite get it.

Absolutely awful experience, don't let her credentials fool you. This doctor is book smart, but not ready to practice on real people! I was misdiagnosed and thus medicated for no reason. I was given the impression that all Dr. Rhodes cared about was my money. While I understand that she is trying to make a living, I refuse to be the one to pay for that in unnecessary appointments.
