Dr. Jennifer Leigh Rupert, MD

I've seen Dr. Rupert 4-5 times for pelvic and infertility issues. She has been courteous throughout and spent an adequate or longer amount of time with me at each appointment. She answered all my questions, even the ones that were rather odd, with patience. Initially, I felt like she could have given me more information about my condition, but if you ask questions, she'll answer. Some people may not know what questions to ask - so I'd make sure you are prepared, because she likely won't anticipate even some of the more common questions. She might assume you know more than you do. I've never needed to reach her by phone, but she is prompt about returning emails and I found this really helpful. When my issues became complicated, she didn't hesitate to bring in her colleague for assistance - which I think is exceptional. I had a laparoscopy and she visited before the surgery and after (though I do not remember the after). She was thorough in explaining the procedure to my husband… and called to follow up with me the next day. Overall, no complaints. I think the field she's in can be highly emotional, so if things don't work out - people are more apt to blame the dr. I was a little afraid to continue with her treatment after reading reviews here, but I wouldn't let them scare you. She's smart and cordial, though I think she prefers treating pregnant patients than infertile ones (who wouldn't?). Also, due to a previous review, I want to note that I am about 20 lbs overweight and she never brought that up or made me feel bad about it.

I felt like I was just another patient among the many. She does not follow up telephone calls and doesn't seem to be available by phone to answer any questions or concerns regarding any complications that may happen in your pregnancy. I was very disappointed once I became pregnant that I had chose her to be my ob/gyn before hand. I was hoping to have a more positive experience with prenatal care.

Dr. Rupert is professional and courteous. She was gentle, thorough and put me at ease during a routine gynecology appointment last week.

I feel she was prejudiced against me because I am over weight. She also didn't listen to me well. I am very unhappy about my experience with her. I've only seen her once but I already know I will never go to her again. In my opinion she is in the wrong line of work. Dr. Rupert is definitely not my idea of a compassionate healer. Before I chose her, I carefully read through all the profiles of OB GYN's at the Sunnyside location on Kaiser's website. I thought she would be a more understanding and less judgmental person because of her background in Psychology. So I'm really disappointed that she actually seems to be the opposite. It's interesting that the other person who rated her had a similarly negative experience with her lack of listening skills. That really confirms that it's not just me. I hate to say anything negative about any doctor because I know how hard they have to work to become one. But in my opinion she's gotten too arrogant. She thinks she has the right to… play God regarding major decisions in the lives of others. That's not her place, her responsibility is to help them as best she can and not judge them just because they aren't perfect human specimens. By the way, she is right that I need to lose a lot more weight as I tried in vain to explain to her that I am in the process of doing. I gave four stars for courteous staff because her nurse is very nice. If it's any consolation she does a great job giving pap smears. But I can't recommend her for anything beyond that.

When you explain an issue to her, Its almost as if she doent hear you, she hears what she wants. Regardless of your past expierence with the problem. Even if you try everything she asks she still wont put your opinion into considerition. Its like pulling teeth. Ive been dealing with this same issue for over a year and I am in constant pain. I WILL be finging another doctor at this point. She acts as if Im a constant pain in her butt, well if she would help me I wouldnt be calling,emailing and seeing her so much. It is far beyond ridiculous with the way she has treated me as well as my issue.
