Dr. Jennifer Lynn Ryal, MD

Jennifer Ryal is the most thorough, most compassionate doctor you will find. All of her colleagues regard her with the highest comments. She has treated me, my wife, two of my friends from whom I have direct reports of Dr. Ryal's friendliness, compassion and excellent care. The people who have written negative comments must not have gotten what they wanted. If you go there seeking pain relief with narcotics she will refer you to a pain management doctor, which is the ethical thing to do. I love her and hope she will be in practice for the rest of my days on earth.

Doctor Ryal is the real deal. She is humble, caring and leaves no stone unturned in investigating the root of your illness. I have had some complicated issues but she sorted them brilliantly. She listens. She is highly respected by her peers. If there is ANYONE I want to see me through this journey of life and it's problems it is Jennifer Ryal. If I could give her 100 stars I would.

This doctor is fabulous! I have been rounds with several other doctors, and heard the most off the wall diagnoses. Dr. Ryal got down to it, and was able to order tests that will help in diagnosing AND treating items on the first visit. She is able to read and understand medical peer reviewed literature and others who are board certified in several areas couldn't do that. She checks everything, its not some half baked check up. I've had docs not even do an exam but she does. If you want an ideal PCP, this physician is it! She is friendly and understanding when it comes to finances and time off work. Her staff is about the sweetest people ever too - I've had a couple of offices that function like a dream - and this crew is it.

Dr Ryal was my Primary Physichia at Ghent Family Practice until she moved up to EVMS. At the time I was a practicing Alcoholic. Due to her care and compassion, I eventually sought treatment. Although I've had a few relapses, I'm sober today. I had the opportunity to reconnect with Dr Ryal this past week. I was a patient at Sentara Norfolk General. She was the Attending Physician for my treatment team. She's an excellant doctor and educator and I enjoyed seeing her again.
