Dr. Jennifer Marie Laplante, ND

Go to literally anyone, anywhere in the world but DO NOT GO TO Jennifer LaPlante. I had a routine gallbladder removal turn into an actual living nightmare. I was supposed to be outpatient and back to work after the weekend. I ended hospitalized for 4 days and could not work for 2 months. She cut open my small intestines during the 1st laproscopic incision through my belly button. I had to be opened up completely from belly button to just below my sternum to have emergency bowel repair. When I asked how this happened, instead of explaining that there was unexpected scar tissue and adhesions (which can have many causes - like my endometriosis) She told me, in front of my husband and 12 year old step-daughter that I "must have untreated chlamydia or gonorrhea because there was so much scar tissue it was impossible to see through" and ordered STD testing during my hospital stay (which I can see in MyChart). She told me she would "get that ordered and treated". When those were obviously… negative, she didn't have anything to say and did NOT apologize for accusing me of having an STD, in front of my family. I continue to have many issues relating to my bowels even almost 7 years later. I hate the scar from it. My belly button is crooked and the scar is thick and itches often. I have severe anxiety now if I have to go under even light sedation, that I will be botched by another doctor. Save yourself physical injury and mental anguish, and DO NOT GO TO THIS HORRIBLE PERSON! I wish I could go back and see anyone else but her for my gallbladder removal. To me, she seems like the type of person that becomes a doctor to cut people open and play God. If she cared, she would have paid attention to my endometriosis history. She would have gone over the risks with me in a serious manner instead of telling me "there's nothing to worry about, you're young and those things don't happen to people like you". If your considering her for ANYTHING, get a second opinion, and third and fourth, and pick any of the other 3 people.

I would recommend Laplante personally. As for anything bedside she has been great to me. She's particular and has a certain way to have things done. Laplante is busy she can't just hang around talking.

Not kind to surrounding healthcare staff, ok with patients.
