Dr. Jenny Ying Yu, MD

Dr Yu has been a true life saver to me with my thyroid eye disease. She helped restore my eye appearance and was a calming factor throughout the whole experience. She is busy and excellent at what she does. An appointment with her is an honor.

Dr. Yu had been treating me at UPMC for a tearing eye. Her first surgery to open my tear ducts FAILED. She strongly suggested that I continue with her to have botox injections in that eye to correct the tearing. The first three DID NOT WORK. The fourth injection - 8 weeks ago - left me with an eyelid that was half-closed and double-vision. Though she promised this would be corrected in ONE week, here it is EIGHT WEEKS LATER without improvement. She used too much botox in that injection and my vision is still blurred. She's a charlatan and should lose her medical license over what she did to me!

I was given a virtual appointment with time and date for my 95 year old mother! When that time came absolutely NOTHING happened. I never heard one word from their office! When I spoke with her assistant, she stated she would have to talk to Dr. Yu in person to find out what the problem was. I would NEVER recommend this doctor to anyone...

I saw Dr Yu and was given a procedure of eye drops and nasal spray and told to call back in 2 weeks with the results. I called and got a recording. I was called back the next day and I relayed my findings. I was told by the coordinator that she would talked to the Dr and call me back the following day. That was 3 days ago and still no return phone call!! In my opinion this is no way to run a business especially a medical business. Very unhappy

I love dr. You, it helps because she is Asian, i am as well, and understands more about the Asian eye culture. She understands how I want my eyes to look. I dont know why she has such a poor rating. Sincerely, One of your patients

Rude unprofessional worst experience i ever had for my sons first surgery.

Just saw Dr. Yu for the first time to try to get some treatment for what I thought was a stubborn stye on my eyelid. I was first seen by her fellow, who hardly spoke to me the entire time aside from giving me commands like look down, look up. After he was through with his exam, he spent a good 10 minutes typing and not speaking to me at all. After he was done, he told me that Dr. Yu would be in in a little while. I waited probably 30 minutes, seriously. I heard her shuffling through to other patients, clearly they were busy... but my appointment had been slated for 11:30. By the time she came in, it was probably past 12:30. She brought a resident in with her, who just stood there awkwardly the entire time. So she looks at my eye and does same exam as the fellow. She then starts telling me that it might be lymphoma. I'm a 27 year old female and thought this was a stye and she threw out a potential cancer diagnosis right then and there. As I began sobbing, she handed me a tissue… and I think may have tried saying that I'm young and it's not likely that's what it is, but she wants to do a biopsy. She started talking about how if it WAS lymphoma, and if it was just in my eye, it's treatable and won't affect my mortality. You don't talk about mortality to a sobbing, freaked out patient who just thought they were there for a routine stye draining or something. So now I have to wait for my biopsy which isn't even for another 2 weeks from now. I don't know why they didn't get me in sooner, especially if cancer is now suspected. After that it's another week of waiting. I'm in agony here. After she examined me and her and the resident left, she brought two other guys in to look at me. I guess Eye & Ear Center is some kind of teaching place. But I was stressed out, and still crying and wasn't really in the mood to have 2 dudes look at me. But alas, they did. Then I got shuffled to scheduling and ended up crying in their bathroom, calling my Mom about all of this. So I get to now worry, daily, for the next 2-3 weeks and I already have constant headache from being so upset over all of this. I feel like Dr. Yu could've been more empathetic in her delivery and taken more time to explain things to me - because I have so many more questions but couldn't even think of them right then because I was so stunned by what she'd told me.

Dr Yu was the most professional Dr. I have meet in a long time. She takes her time to explain procedures and cares about her patients well being.

I was referred to this doctor from my surgeon, as he wanted the ocuoplastics department at Presby to do imaging to determine if potentially there were nerve or lacrimal gland issues as I have continuous pain on the right side of my eyelid. Rather than do the evaluation herself Dr. Yu relied instead on the advice of interns performing the exam. She refused to do any imaging, instead saying that she wanted to hold off a mo. first to see if the condition would improve and then would perform a scan. On return the condition had worsened, she again relied exclusively on intern evaluations, doing no exam herself at all, and then after waiting an hr entered for the first time to angrily tell me there was nothing to be done and that I should "live with the pain." I had seen this person for all but a total of about 1 minute combined between 2 visits and this was her behavior. I have lost valuable time in getting diagnostic information, this kind of behavior is grossly unacceptable and… frankly dangerous. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
