Dr. Jeoffrey Paul Benson, MD

I was recently recommended to Dr. Benson by my surgeon after he found lower back problems were causing me pain. Dr. Benson examined me and thoroughly reviewed the MRI results with me. I understood my problem much better after that, which helped me make an informed decision about which treatment to choose.

I made an appt. with Dr. Benson. I was given an appt very quickly. I received a call back from the office saying that because I had two health insurance policies, they were confused about who to bill. So I called my insurance and they said the PPO is billed before the HMO. I called the doctors office back and was told 'No, the HMO is always billed first, and that I could keep my appt. if I paid cash $150. If the insurance did pay, they would issue me a refund.". So I called my insurance again, and was told the same story, PPO first. I called the office back and spoke to another receptionist. She was impatient and now said that I could only have the appt. if I paid $250 and no refund." I said I would contact my insurance and get back to them. I waited for over a week to see if the insurance confusion would settle. I called my insurance again and told the same story, I believe them. I called doctors office again and asked them to please call the insurance again to get pre-appoval. I… was told " I'm here alone today, our biller is out sick. I'm not calling the insurance again, I've already spent too much time on you.". She offered me an appointment in a month, self pay only. I took it as I had no other choice.

Dr. Benson administered an epidural steroid injection to me and did an amazing job, I hardly felt a thing! He was fast and precise-2 of the most important qualities in this type of procedure.

First of all, the office staff is horrible (mischedule appt.'s and even surgeries!). I don't know how this doctor is in the field of pain management: no empathy whatsoever. No follow-up: none (no contact made after having medical device implanted for 2 years; you'd think they'd follow-up to see how you are doing, if for no other reason, b/c he is supposed to be "managing pain"). I had a medical device implanted in 2008, followed by a heart attack due to blood clot - now medical device has failed (Dr. Benson could care less now that the insurance has paid for the surgery).
