Summary

Dr. Jeremy Pflederer is a Board-certified orthopedic physician at OrthoIllinois, a division of OrthoMidwest, specializing in hip and knee replacement, including partial, total, and complex revision procedures. His clinical interests include outpatient joint surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques such as the direct anterior approach total hip replacement, robotic and navigated total knee replacement, and rapid recovery protocols designed to enhance patient outcomes and surgical experience. Dr. Pflederer is dedicated to providing highly skilled, respectful, and compassionate care to his patients, helping them achieve a more active and pain-free life.

Originally from Tremont, Illinois, a small town southeast of Peoria, Dr. Pflederer was influenced by his family’s tradition of medical service. His father, uncle, and grandfather were all physicians specializing in kidney disease, inspiring Dr. Pflederer’s own pursuit of a medical career. Growing up working on the family’s small ranch, he developed an appreciation for hard work and hands-on problem-solving, which later shaped his interest in surgery.

An accomplished athlete, Dr. Pflederer competed in track and basketball during high school and continued his athletic career at Wheaton College, where he earned an undergraduate degree in Biology on a basketball scholarship. His experiences in NCAA basketball fostered a deep appreciation for the mechanics of the human body and an understanding of how injuries can affect performance.

Dr. Pflederer graduated from Wheaton College with Highest Honors and subsequently attended the University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree as a graduate of distinction. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and pursued additional specialized training through an Adult Reconstruction Hip and Knee Fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

During his residency, Dr. Pflederer developed a particular interest in hip and knee replacement, recognizing joint replacement as one of the most successful procedures in all of surgery. He finds it deeply rewarding to help patients achieve significant pain relief and restored mobility through these interventions.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Pflederer enjoys spending time outdoors with his golden retriever, Bodhi, and staying active through activities such as cycling on his Peloton. He values time with his large family and friends, making the most of his free moments in their company.
