Dr. Jeremy Charles Karras, DDS

Dr. Karras attended the University of Utah on a Presidential Scholarship and graduated with a degree in medical biology. He continued his studies at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dr. Karras was selected for induction into the prestigious honorary dental fraternity Omicron Kappa Upsilon by virtue of his academic standing among the top graduates in his class.
Following graduation from dental school, Dr. Karras attended the University of Minnesota where he received outstanding specialty training in orthodontics and obtained a specialty certificate. He authored an article based on research done as a part of his Master's thesis which was accepted for publication in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Dr. Karras has also co-authored scientific articles in the fields of neuroscience and genetics as well as clinical orthodontics.
Dr. Karras loves to learn and he is continually working to …stay on the cutting edge of information, techniques, and materials used in the practice of orthodontics. He has completed continuing education courses in all areas of orthodontics including advanced courses in the use of Invisalign®. Dr. Karras has also completed the process to become board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is a proud member of that organization.
During the course of his dental education Dr. Karras received a number of scholarships and academic awards including the Research Achievement Award, the Dental Class of 1923 Award (for academic achievement), the Ralph A. Fenton Award (for excellence in the basic sciences), the Dental Class of 1929 Award (for academic achievement), and the Dean's Student Leadership Award.
Dr. Karras is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Iowa Dental Association, the Des Moines District Dental Society, the Iowa Society of Orthodontists and the Midwest Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Karras enjoys all aspects of the orthodontic profession, but he especially enjoys getting to know patients and their families and the satisfaction that comes with each beautiful smile at the end of orthodontic treatment. When he is not in the office his favorite activity is to spend time together with his family. Dr. Karras is married to a wonderful wife and together they have three beautiful children. He enjoys serving in his church and in the community in a variety of ways. He also enjoys sports of all kinds, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
