Dr. Jeri L Penkava, MD

Dr Penkava is someone you can sit there and talk to. She makes you feel comfortable and understand the issues at hand. If you don’t understand, she can break down the subject so that it’s easier to understand.

Why has she changed office locations repeatedly since 2003 when she left her Fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics, 3 marriages that supported her until they saw that she was unethical and using their resources to fund her office, over 750 unfinished patient reports stacked in storage for which insurance companies re-imbursed her for treatments rendered, yet no reports provided to guide the multidisciplinary services required for children with disabilities. Not just allowing but demanding unlicensed non-clinical office staff to not only write schedule II prescriptions for patients but adjust dosages. Leaves the country for two weeks at a time with no back up call. patients are tested by office staff with lack of appropriate advanced degrees to administer tests; clinical impressions and diagnoses made based on histories gathered by non-clinical staff and persons administering tests who lack academic training to interpret the tests. Medical decisions based on what alternative… treatments can be recommended that she financially benefits from. At least twice has had current lovers who married her and later divorced her running the office who were fed up; supporting fraudulent practices. Crisis phone calls from parents referred to unlicensed personnel, with no follow up from the Provider and licensed provider of services. While animals in a developmental office can be of benefit, the time to set aside for Delta training by at least one member of the staff should be a priority. It is not a necessary provision of services and given the incidence of allergies and asthma and eczema in children with special needs, animal dander is the last thing they need, especially in an initial appointment intended for a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan. Staff turnover is un-precedented. Ask her a direct question? You'll get deflection, giggles, guffaws or a story about her life. Not what anyone needs when their child is struggling. Thank goodness the pharmaceutical companies are no longer able to bring lunches to the staff or your child might end up with the prescription of the day.

Doctor Penkava answered all my questions about my child that I asked. She never appeared like she didn't have enough time to talk.

My son was diagnosed with ASD, only after very thorough and careful screening, testing, and information gathering. Dr. Penkava has excellent manners, and is genuine in her care of your children. Face to Face interaction is always best when discussing a problem that a child may be having. I appreciate that she is a holistic practitioner, and is cautious in what goes into my sons body. I believe that the office can be a bit more organized and streamlined, however being in the medical field for over 14 years, I can say that she is reasonable with her promptness. The office is up to date, and clean. The most important thing for me is the knowledge and wisdom that your childs doctor has. I would recommend any of my friends or family to this doctor. She stays up to date with new research and trends.

I cannot explain enough.... BEWARE!!! Bill Turner is office manager and is the docs husband. It all started when my son had a medication issue and I needed to speak to doctor bc the medication was not working. I contacted office to speak with doc about med. I spoke with Bill who is not a clinician... Just the doc's hubs. He told me she was not available and I asked to speak to on call doc. He told me that they do not have one. He than proceeded to tell me that I overdosed my child and to take him to ER. He is not a clinician and has no right to speak to people like that. After that phone call my husband and I decided not to go back to Dr. My pedi was able to help us wing our child off medication. I never heard from Dr. P. on top of it all,,,, we got a bill from office. I contacted office and spoke w/ a very kind lady who was the BOM.... She waived the fees. She also informed me that I was not the only person that has had issues. Last week I got the same Billing statement. I contacted… office and spoke with Bill Turner ( docs husband ) and explained that bill was waived. He told me I still owe money and the nice lady who waived bill is no longer at office and she did not have authorization. I am going to go to every site, social media sites, media, newspapers and accreditation and abuse for rights for children. My guess is because Dr. Penkava is so specialized ,,,,, they take advantage of families and children with special needs. They are not even worthy of one star. Dr. Penkava is a very experienced practitioner who has helped me with my issues with Autism Spectrum Disorder, mainly my anxiety.

We think Dr. Penkava is wonderful! She is a medical doctor, but a holistic practitioner, so the negative comments don't surprise me. Not all parents understand "treating the whole child." She is certainly not a pill pusher, in fact, she wants make sure the diet kids are eating is optimal and clean, wants to make sure the child gets any alternative therapy they need to assist in their treatment. In addition to the many hours of testing they did on my child, she takes parent input into account, which is very important. Many doctors just want to slap an autism diagnosis on all kids that may be a unique diagnosis, but this staff actually took the time to look closely and very much got it right for my child. The office has moved too, and is very large, clean and updated. Dr. Penkava may not be for everyone, but we think she's doing the right thing.

We had a horrible experience. First, this office is unresponsive to patients and other doctors alike. FYI - staff finally told me they only listen to messages once a day (at 9am) and the only way to get a hold of them is just to keep calling until a live person answers (Hello? Isn't this unethical?). Second, they switched up a pertinent test result on which they based a large part of their diagnosis (I was in the room during this part of the testing), which of course undermines the basis for their diagnosis! While I have more complaints then this, at the end of the day I question Dr. Penkava's professionalism, credibility and ethics and strongly encourage others to see TRUE professional help elsewhere!

Very unique and up to date alternative methods of treating childhood mental and physical conditions. Office staff polite and professional. Dr. Penkava could talk more to her patients but does take alot of time to gather parental input...she looks for customized ways to treat symptoms and can prescribe medications other doctors can't. Son has been a patient with her for 4 years.

I was referred to this doctor. Have called 4 times in one week for an appointment. No callback. After reading comments, it makes sense. I researched her, and I will not attempt at all and keep looking... Thanks for no phone call back!
