Dr. Jerold M Share, MD

Dr Share is an amazingly competent and detail-oriented doctor. If you have a rare condition, I highly recommend going to see him as a last resort. He will leave no stone unturned. However, I do not recommend him for routine stuff as he is impossible to get a hold of (does not answer email or office phone), he has no assistant for over a year now to answer calls, his appointments are expensive, and he has zero follow through. He is super, super nice and competent but also forgets you as soon as you leave and you cannot reach him for months. Very frustrating experience.

I have seen Dr. Share for the last fifteen years and he is my favorite doctor. I had both several of my parathyroids removed and my thyroid at the same time. None of the doctors I was seeing at that time could regulate a number of issues which included my heart. I started seeing Dr. Share after this surgery and he carefully and thoroughly worked with me in order to regulate parts of my endocrine system and he did. I have always found him quite informed, caring and willing to think out of the box. He completely focuses on the patient and takes the time he needs with the patient.

Don't bother! He doesn't take insurance, gets paid up a high rate up front and doesn't bill your insurance in a timely manner. After 3 months waiting for it to be submitted, I finally requested an itemized receipt and did it myself. More importantly, he wanted to put me on a prescription but can't figure out how to execute a pre-authorization with my insurance company to get it filled. I'm not a clinician, but he asked me to call the insurance company twice and do his job for him. He whined to me that he spent a lot of office time trying to get my prescription through. Wah wah wah. I paid Share $295 and I want a refund. It's been THREE months and he still hasn't figured out how to get my prescription filled!

Non-responsive and as useless as do ald trump.

I have had several doctors treat my diabetes over the years, many hard to get appointments with, in a rush, unaware of latest developments. Share is head and shoulders above the rest. Takes the time, answers questions, does blood work in-house, up on the latest research, kind and patient. Takes Medicare. Next to American University.

I have been seeing Dr. Share for several years and find him to be extremely knowledgeable. He always takes time to explain in detail what he is recommending and why. Highly recommended.

Dr. Share has been treating me for Type 1 diabetes for several years. When I'm in his office, he is warm and friendly and open to discussing new ways to help me manage my blood sugars. However, there is one particular fault that drives me crazy and that is trying to get him to refill/authorize refills. My pump supplier will send him a fax that all he has to do is sign it and return it. This latest incident has been the last straw---the pump supplier (and me) have been contacting him by phone and by fax for an authorization for seven weeks. Yes, that's right, SEVEN weeks! I spoke to him last Wednesday and he said he would do it that day. Followed up with the supplier on Friday, nothing. Again, the order was cancelled. In desperation, I called my PCP, he signed and sent back the fax this morning. I'm so angry that i will never go back to him. Unprofessional and irresponsible! It's not like I can buy pump supplies at the drug store.

Dr. Share has treated me over the years. Besides being a respected endocrinologist with years of experience, he takes a personal interest in his patients. I recall how sympathetic he was when my twin brother, to whom he had been helpful, passed away. He gets five stars as a physician and six as a good friend.

Dr. Share was wonderful about spending time explaining things to me. However, after he did some tests he said he would email me with the results. He never did and I called 2 times and still haven't gotten the restuls.

My mother hasn't been to see him in over a year, but recently when visiting my mentally ill mother, I found four different types of benzodiazepines with recent refill dates. All were in quantities of 90-100 per prescription with 3-5 refills approved on the labels. As if that wasn't bad enough, there was also two recent prescriptions for Ambien with quantities over 90 and multiple refills approved.This guy is NOT a psychiatrist, he was treating my mother for diabetes and thyroid issue. There is NO reason he should have be prescribing the type or volume of these drugs to someone who hasn't been in his office in over a year. Especially to someone who is mentally unstable.I'm filing a complaint with the DC, MD and VA medical boards to report misconduct, but wanted to warn others here too.
