Dr. Jerome Steven Schwartz, MD

I've seen 3 docs in this practice, and Jerome Schwartz is the one I'm sticking with! :) Several months ago, I made Jerome Schwartz my primary ENT. I originally planned to see another doc whom I'd previously seen the following day to check on a nosebleed, but my work schedule would not have allowed me to arrive at my appointment on time. I ended up not working that day, and since my nose was actively bleeding, I just wanted it checked out so I didn't really care who I saw. Not having seen Jerome before, I was not sure what to expect. Seriously I had the best ENT visit possible! Amazing bedside manner and explained everything in detail and plain English. I went back a month later to discuss the possibility of a tonsillectomy due to recurring sore throats over the past two years, which have affected my sleep and have caused me to miss work. After looking at my throat and asking me some questions, he said that I'm a good candidate for a tonsillectomy. He did a great job explaining… what would happen, the risks/benefits and was honest about the post-op pain. I didn't feel that he was pushing me to have the surgery, but rather made the recommendation based on my history and symptoms. Also, he always encourages me to call with questions or concerns. Since I've never had surgery (aside from my wisdom teeth in the oral surgeon's office), naturally I have at least a moderate level of anxiety. A few weeks after I decided to have surgery, I called him to talk about my anxiety. He was very reassuring and understanding about my concerns. I'm not having surgery until April, so we'll see how that goes. I'm hopeful that having my tonsils out will reduce or eliminate the problems I'm having now. Anyhow, I feel like I'm in great hands as both my phone conversation and office visits ended with my thinking, "I know I picked the right doc" and "I want Jerome to be the one to take out my tonsils." I haven't had any issues with the front office staff or nurses so far. I go to the 19th St office and I really like the male receptionist (sorry, don't know his name!) and the nurses Armando Jordan and Whitney (I think?). Usually I have been seen on time or a few minutes after, with the exception of my first visit (with a different doc) where I had to wait over an hour. Finally, I love that I can make appointments on ZocDoc!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Schwartz this afternoon, and he is truly one of the best doctors I have ever seen. He was kind, extremely patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. He was able to accurately diagnose my vocal cord problem within minutes, and he recommended a wonderful plan of care. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Schwartz, and I highly recommend him.
