Dr. Jerri P Sethna, MD

She knew full well from the start why I was coming to see her. She accepted an initial consult appointment for the $$$ only. I am sure she planned to reject me but bill my insurance anyway for the consult, but that's not how it worked out. I warned her not to bill them because I would report her for fraud, and she didn't bill them. That's the only good thing I can say about this awful little situation that wasted two car trips, consuming my time and gas. When I came to her office the first time, I filled out voluminous paperwork, much of it redundant, trying to squeeze information onto tiny line spaces. When I came for the actual consult, she back pedaled on me and had the nerve to LIE to a veteran pain patient who has seen it all and is up on the law. Sethna claimed the medication I've been on for 16 years is forbidden to be prescribed with opiates by the DEA. This is a blatant LIE. It's been filled routinely by the doctor I was moving away from...for the past six years! Routinely… approved and filled by previous doctors since 2006. Paid for by my insurance! Accepted without pause by HEB pharmacies! She must have disliked me on sight. She is abrupt, rude, not pleasant to the eyes or spirit. An educated patient who can see through her is not welcome. Also, the building she practices in has a very poor reputation with the DEA. Many pill mill doors were kicked in there over the past five years. Maybe hers was one of them and she suffers from DEA paranoia. I really dislike that she blamed the DEA for her lies about the medication. This is a back door cop-out (no pun intended) for an incompetent doctor to fall back on. The medication is not prohibited; it is up to the doctor as to whether they want to prescribe it or not. A competent psychiatrist will prescribe it if sufficient medical necessity exists, and the patient has been using the medication previously. CAVEAT EMPTOR: She has a large sign up in the reception area warning that Prior Authorizations will cost $40.00. WHAT? Prior Authorizations (known as a PA) have never cost me a dime and regardless of your insurance, should never be charged for. Had she been honest, this review wouldn't exist.

I have so many doctors and health issues, so I sought the best. She was immediately able to identify drugs that were harmful, and set up a follow up for results. She may be busy and communicate less than perfect, but I can be patient to fit in with her large patient load

Never returns calls, has a horrible bed side manner. I heard her call a patient a big fat liar while they were on hold. Very abrasive she treats people more like costumers than patients. She is very rude to family members. I would not recommend her to anyone.

Great doctor except she scedules 20 plus different payments all for 5:30pm every time!It does not matter what your arrival time is, no one is seen at a decent time no matter what said patients cirrcumstance. No one is treated or explained during a fair amount of time!

We arrived for a 5:30 appointment only to walk into a packed waiting room. One person had been sitting there since 1pm. The office clerk stated it was first one first serve to see Dr Sethna. Then proceeded to argue regarding the copay and literally asked if I wanted to "fight about it". Apparently there was an emergency at the hospital she works at but you would think a phone call from the staff to let you know would be appreciated and helpful.

I love Dr. Sethna! She is the first psychiatrist I've had who is completely invested in my getting better. She listens to all my concerns every visit and always allows me to ask as many questions as I need. When I've become overwhelmed and wanted to give up, SHE kept going. She is committed to my recovery. The only negative is her receptionist. Sheila does not return phone calls. I always have to leave multiple messages and only get a call back when I go through the answering service. It's very frustrating to not be able to schedule/reschedule an appointment right away. I have considered changing doctors because of this, but Dr. Sethna really is that great!

This doctor was rude to my teen age daughter and myself. She only seems to care about the money. This is not a doctor who is understanding or really takes time to listen. She increased my daughters medication because she did not like her attitude. I will never go back to this person again.

I like Dr. Sethna. She is very straight forward and blunt. It can be hard to take sometimes, but she has your best interests at heart. Her staff, on the other hand, SUCKS! Her receptionist won't return phone calls unless you go through the answering service - and sometimes not even then! Heaven forbid you need to reschedule an appointment, because you'll never get anyone on the phone to make the appointment for you! I'm seriously thinking of changing doctors. What's the point in having a doctor you like if you can never get an appointment scheduled or message to them?!

Awful service. Staff is terrible.
