Dr. Jerry Charles Bernstein, MD

Inattentive, unprofessional, uncaring.

Awful

My son was suffering from asthma and Dr. Bernstein spent 1 1/2 hours badgering us on our asthma plan we have through Carolina Allergy and Asthma. He attempted to bribe me by demanding that I hand him (in person) the records from CA&A no later than the following day, before he would agree to writing a prescription refill for my son's rescue inhaler. I told him I would not have time to drive there, but could have them email or fax the information. To which he replied, "We are going to need to terminate this relationship." Fortunately, we had a rescue inhaler and respules for his nebulizer at home, so I would not have to make a trip to the ER. This is my third time visiting this particular doctor over a 15 year span. The first experience, I brought my youngest daughter to his practice for a cold and asthma, and he quizzed me on the particulars of her food allergies. He told me that he was an expert and did not believe that she was anaphylactic to milk at her age. Another time I brought… my oldest daughter to this clinic for a sore throat. The nurse weighed her and noted that she lost a considerable amount of weight--8-10 pounds. The doctor took a strep culture, which was positive, and the first time she had ever been diagnosed with strep. No mention of her weight loss. Three months later, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. I think Dr. Bernstein needs to learn to stick with the diagnosis at hand and recognize he is not the only expert.

Our son came into the world with health issues. Dr. Bernstein has been his doctor ever since. We drive from Sims, North Carolina everytime my son needs to go to the doctor. Every experience has been great. Our son loves him and no one wants to go to the doctor but knowing he is going to Dr. Bernstein makes it better. We thank him for his expertise!!!
