Dr.Kim grew up in the Tidewater Virginia area. He moved to Northern Virginia in 1989. Soon after moving to Northern Virginia, he proudly opened Merrifield Dental (Fairfax, VA) and in 1998 opened Sunrise Dental in Reston, Va. After Dr. Kim attended both, the College of William and Mary and Virginia Tech for his undergraduate studies, he completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1988 at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Kim has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education, focusing on topics of reconstructive and restorative dentistry. He has been an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Association for the past 20 years. Volunteering his time and skills has been an important aspect of Dr. Kim’s professional life for many years. This includes three humanitarian trips to the Yucatan Peninsula to offer much needed dental services and improve the lives of the local people.
