Dr. Jerry Albert Matlen, MD

This is a very good doctor. Knowledgeable, friendly, professional. He sets the patient at ease. My problem is in booking an appointment, and this is a Beaumont issue, not Dr. Matlin's. Beaumont operators put me on hold for over twenty minutes before I hang up, and the recorded messages provide menus of useless information. Appointment lines should not be that busy.

My second hip replacement with Dr. Matlen left my leg very weak and unstable. The first hip replacement, also done by Dr. Matlen was highly successful, so the difference was obvious. After numerous appointments and a lot of physical therapy Dr. Matlen ordered an ultrasound - 2 years after the implant which showed the detached muscle. He did a revision surgery but it was not successful and my hip is unstable. It clunks and moves to the side leaving me with a pretty good limp. I wish he had looked at the situation more thoroughly before the muscle had been left so long. Checking in with another orthopaedic surgeon, I was told that the clips used in the revision surgery are for shoulders, not hips. Yike!

Waited for 2 hours in the waiting room then was rushed and tried to ask a question as he was walking out the door. Then recieved a bill for 180.00
