Dr. Jerry Wacks, MD

Dr. Wacks used to be one of the best doctors I encountered anywhere. He is now unable to remember from one month to the next even reading his own notes. Sad.

Dr Wacko is a quacko. Like the couple who refused to listen to him and worked on their marriage, I would have jumped off a bridge long ago if I had taken his advice. Unethical is too nice a word for this clown!!! STAY AWAY!!!!

We were told by Doctor Wacks to end our marriage forty years ago. We persisted and it worked out for us.

Dr.wacks was calming and informative. I look forward to working with him. To have a better life.

This guy sucks. Always trying to talk down the health system insurance companies his personal politics loves. Stay away - manipulative and a money sucking attitude.

I couldn't have had a better experience. Dr.Wacks is so nice and took his time with me and listened to all my concerns. I was able to get an appointment within a week. Very pleased.

I started seeing Dr. Jerry Wacks as a troubled high schooler about to start college. As a severely depressed teenager, I was in search of anything to alleviate the consistent uncomfortable feelings I was facing every day, and therapy/medication seemed like a quick fix to my overly romanticized notion of the depressed artist type. Jerry Wacks does not do his homework, and like like most psychiatrists, is very eager to make a quick diagnosis of a mental illness that may not even exist, so he can fill up his patients with unneeded medication. He will not return your phone calls if you are having a emergency. He regularly falls asleep during appointments and does not give any helpful information, but instead rephrases what his patient has just told him and parrots it back. He also is on vacation more than he is available in the office to do his job. Several of the therapists in his office do great individual counseling work, but after I realized I no longer needed medication and thus was… no longer a patient of Wacks, my private information was still shared with him without my permission. It is my regretful recommendation (after years of receiving and relying on great therapy from a phenomenal therapist in his practice but being simultaneously trapped in both a fabricated mental illness and a just plain money making scam), to consider another practice, or if you are a parent, consider other possibilities for your child's behavior, or just let your teenager be a teenager.

I've been seeing Dr. Wacks for nearly five years, and I'm absolutely astonished by these reviews. While I do find him a bit quirky, he is smart (SO smart, like some people are so smart they can be a bit eccentric) that it seems there are few things he is not knowledgeable about. As for the comments about his being obsessed about money and being a pusher of expensive brand-name prescriptions, I have NEVER has these experiences. He goes out of his way to keep my med costs as manageable as possible. He rarely mentions money, except when I first started there, which is entirely appropriate. Yes, he has rules, or contracts with patients. I've never had a GOOD shrink who DIDN'T do this. He has certainly never harped on it, or anything else for that matter. He has bent over backwards to be available to me, including helping with stuff when he was on vacation. The therapists that I have seen in his practice have been wonderful. When my first therapist moved out of the area, the new… therapist that he hired was (is) wonderful, and Dr. Wacks has been very solicitous to be sure we were a good fit. Some of the comments that I have found most shocking is those about the office staff. His main office manager is one of the nicest, friendliest women I have ever met. She's a perfect person to have as a front person in a psychiatric office. I understand that everyone is different, and the choice of psychiatric providers is very personal and subject to making a "connection" with the people, but as someone who has been seeing psychiatrists and other mental health providers for over forty years, I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, and I certainly would not have wasted five-plus years of my time or made myself exposed and vulnerable to a narcissistic, , unprofessional, charlatan that these reviews make him out to be. I don't often bother to take the time to write online commentary of my experiences, but I felt very strongly that the image being presented by this website and the reviews here that I felt I needed to speak up. After my first visit with Dr. Wacks, which by the way he scheduled at a highly outside-the-box time in order to squeeze me in, I was asked by a family member how I liked him, and my comment was that he was an extremely kind man. That opinion has not changed.

The man should not be practicing medicine yet psychiatry. He is an obnoxious, narcissistic man who should be sued for negligence. He's a Charlatan and a completely incompetent disgrace to his profession. I feel sorry for the patients that think this is quality medicine because they have not experienced professionalism. He's a pill doctor. He doesn't listen. He could care less about you. I spoke to other people since my horrid time with this man and they agree and this that he is unethical and should be reported but no one wants to take the time to deal with the State offices involved. He says the weirdest things and talks about other patients. I would do mores research and skip the man. You will set your self back if you get into his web. I am guessing his office staff wrote the god reviews here.

If there are good reviews about this man either he or his staff wrote them or the patients are naieve. This man is so unethical that i wished i issued a complaint against him. If you got a med and it worked its because the meds are classic and modern and i could prescribe them too and get a better review earnestly to boot. He is obsessed with money and he will try and sell things to you too - not joking. Sell you his house or his tomatoes. Nothing is too low for him. Talk about your mother and you will begin to hear about his like i could care. Oh and he talks about other patients BY NAME. I know too much about Paula Poundstone and her mother. If he is retiring there will be many more healthy people who chose pthwr doctors. He got me hooked on one drug and he was giving me 2-3 times what i needed. He never honestly explores your inner issues because he doesnt want to and he's not interested in part because the longer you think you need him the happier he is. He will even… read the NY times while you are trying to talk with him and oh my god his awfully smelly dogs he brings into sessions. The man is very narcisistic. Avoid him. He is not worth a dollar an hour and he is actually harmful. I love my doctors now including my psychistrist who is modern, holistic, intelligent, empathetic, and very very professional while Jerry does not deserve MD and is the opposite of all that my very good doctor is. I only wish we could take a group action and law suit against this man.
