Dr. Jesse Eugene Taber, MD

My first office visit with Dr. Taber that took place a week ago was a great one. About 10 days before my scheduled appt. with Dr. Taber, I had a follow-up EEG at Glenbrook Hospital to one that had been done while I was in hospital for 2 days for observation. Within 2 hours of my walking out of Glenbrook Hospital, where the second EEG had been conducted, my primary care physician called me to say that Dr. Taber had just called her to say that he had reviewed the results of that day's EEG. He asked her to prescribe a medication so that I could start taking it right away instead of waiting another 10 days when I would have my first appt. with him so that he could prescribe it. His quick response and caring attitude had me liking Dr. Taber before I even met him. On the day of the appointment, I waited about 20 minutes in the waiting room after having had an initial conference with nurse. Dr. Taber himself came to waiting room and called my name. The first thing that he said… was that he was sorry that I had had to wait to see him. During the 1 1/2 hour appointment, Dr. Taber asked pertinent questions about the blacking-out event that I had had. His comments and questions were on track. As most physicians these days, he had to record data on the computer as we talked. Although he was necessarily occupied by recording data, he stayed tuned in to me at the same time. I look forward to working with Dr. Taber as he addresses my medical concerns, and I am very confident that I am getting first-class care from a caring, competent and first-class physician, Dr. Taber.

Beware of IME appointments with this Doc. He is an insurance company's wet dream. Two year work related injury with pain and a hip surgery and he bent the evidence to his narrative instead of a unbiased opinion. He is anti-patient and pro-insurance or pro-pension board. Tread carefully!!!!

He has a public face in front of other doctors, affable, smiling - which completely fooled me into choosing to see him again. When he is alone in his office, he is uncaring, emotionless and almost (I am qualifying this so I don't have to report him) abusive. Not only was he not interested in what previous neurologists had said and the imaging that had been done, he was busy going about giving me a physical that was so brutal that, a day later, my joints are still swollen from my ankles, to my shoulder sockets. He literally used me as a punching bag. I've never had such a horrible exam in my life (and that's saying something, I've seen many doctors since my pain issues began - over a year ago). I actually cried during the exam, and my ankles and knees are so swollen I can barely walk today. I was smart enough to bring someone with me into the exam, and they said they didn't even see any humanity there. And they were as upset and angry, as I was, to watch me being treated that way. I… also spoke with someone who had seen him, and her husband described him as "beyond abrupt" and they too decided to see a different neurologist. One of the worst doctors I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone - he's not interested in patient history, he doesn't ask the right questions and he comes off as almost a dangerously abusive quack. Not like any other neurologist I have seen, who were caring, interested in my patient history, and actually concerned about my health.

I was referred to Dr Taber by another physician. He spent the majority of the 1.5 hour appointment typing everything that I presented and about 10 minutes checking me for symptoms. At times he was very abrupt and seemed irritated with my answers. At the end of the appointment, I left not really having answers for the reason I was referred but he did refer me to other doctors (one for the main issue and two for things that were completely unrelated which still has me baffled) and ordered some very expensive tests. Perhaps those results will aid his diagnosis but my confidence post appointment is not strong. Maybe he was having a bad day...

I went due to slight tremor. He gave me a complete exam. Yes he did put everything in the computer as we talked, but I believe that is so he will have the info while fresh in his mind, and it didn't interfere with questions or discussion. His diagnosis was right on

Dr. Taber is wonderful. It's true, as some have commented here, that he does not make a whole lot of eye contact, but that is just his style -- more introverted. He is very caring and respectful, spends a long time with you, and follows up quickly with test results, etc. He does type a lot during the appointment, but is listening closely. I felt very well taken care of with him.

You dont want this guy as your physician He wont listen to you He is abrupt He doesnt explain things in a manner you would understand I had seizures that were poorly controlled and he would not answer my calls promptly and then would be abrupt with me on the phone Choose someone who actually cares, not this guy

After having brain surgery I went to Dr. Taber for an opinion on recurring pain in back of my head. He spent almost the entire appointment typing into a computer and asking pre-programmed questions that did not relate to the reason I was there. I was not allowed to elaborate on my answers to his questions as he was quite curt when he told me "that is not what I asked you." There was a short 3 minute exam but no time allowed to answer my concerns. I received a printout of what he typed in the computer (which was information I gave hime so I did not see the point of this) and a one half page of his recommendations. We did not discuss them , nor was I given any opportunity to ask questions. Coming from a family of physicians I did not expect this rather bizarre way of taking patient history. I would never recommend this physician to anyone. If you are looking for a caring physician who will spend time communicating with you no matter how big or small your medical issue is, this is… NOT the man to go to.

I've been to many doctors, but Dr. Taber spent so much time with me and conducted a history so thorough, I've never experienced anything like it. He puts everything you say into his computer and by the time your exam is finished, he has a letter to give you that discusses your meeting and describes how he plans to help you. He is warm and funny, but down to business too. My experience with this doctor has been nothing but positive. I wish I could say the same for other docs I've known. I highly recommend Dr. Taber if you need to see a Neurologist.
