Dr. Jessica Cabodi, MD

I was seeing Dr. Cabodi for a number of years prior to moving to Tennessee. Aside from my family and friends, she was about the only thing I missed about Seattle. I am currently back in town for several months, and she has graciously taken me back as a patient. She is the most knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive Dr. I have ever met, often responding to emails long after-hours. Most importantly, Dr. Cabodi listens to her patients and always suggests the simplest, least invasive, and most natural treatment she can first, rather than immediately pulling out the prescription pad. Her support staff is equally excellent. Dr. Cabodi is the absolute best, and I can't recommend her enough.

I have been a Patient of Dr. Cabodi for about 8 years. During that time she has bent over backwards for me to facilitate my care , rescheduling appts. when i was unable to come. Spent time off the clock to call me and make sure i was doing ok when i failed to "check in " as promised. A Dr. can only be expected to do "so much" and in my experience she always goes above and beyond , also her staff has been and is always helpful to me. I literally trust Dr. Cabodi with my life and i've never felt that way about any previous doctors. Come prepared to communicate and you'll get this level of care also. In fact all the providers i have seen in various departments have been "good to excellent" and I've seen my share.

I just got back from my annual appointment with my new primary care doc and was reminded of what a terrible experience I had with Jessica. She lists skin care as an area of specialty or expertise, and of course examined me for any skin issues. In a shocking development, she found two spots she felt were worthy of biopsy and scheduled me for a follow up appointment. Here is where I made the mistake of not just going to a dermatologist immediately. When I returned for my excising appointment, I was told to lie on stomach on the exam table. She proceeded to punch biopsy the spot on my shoulder, which was uncomfortable but not bad. The second sample was too big for the punch so she administered local anesthetic and removed it with a scalpel. More than a couple times it was pretty painful and I voiced my discomfort. Jessica replied that I needed to be tougher and she was almost done. I need to be tougher? That's not an okay answer from a physician. Why use anesthesia at all? Fast forward to… the test results - both returned pre-cancerous (hopefully like the rest of my body). On one she didn’t get clean margins so recommended I schedule a follow up excision with a dermatologist. Really? I come in for excision and you can't be thorough enough to get clean margins, necessitating yet another appointment and excision? Unacceptable lack of attention to detail and patient wellbeing. Her actions resulted in two office visits, two excisions and lab tests, and a recommendation for a third office visit to a specialist and more excision and lab tests. Are you sure you’re billing the insurance company enough, Jess? I subsequently went to a highly respected dermatologist who confirmed Jessica's treatment was unnecessary and poorly executed. I've never returned and will not. There are so many far better doctors. Do yourself a favor and find one.

I saw Dr. Cabodi once when my regular doctor was sick and I needed an appointment quickly with whomever was available. She was dismissive and condescending. When I asked about whether I should get a shingles shot (I had heard older people are advised to get them--I am 63), she went off on a rant about how the shots are hard to come by because all the Boomers are crowding to get them, and therefore no one else can get one. This turned into an age-ist diatribe that made me feel completely disregarded and dispensable as a person, let alone as a patient. Adding insult to injury, she was extremely rough in the pelvic exam and as a result I had the first painful exam in my life after having had literally dozens in my lifetime. Enough said.

Focused primarily on my ability to pay for her service than my treatment which she failed to provide. Passive aggressive, judgmental, berated me in her office.

Dr Cabodi is a very nice woman, but very controlling and will not collaborate with other doctors who may also be part of a patients healthcare team. She is unresponsive to requests for information, response time more than a week at times when the Polyclinic standard is 2-3 days unless it is an emergency.

Dr. Cabodi was great. I felt like we were having a conversation and like she was really listening and thinking about what I had to say. I didn't feel rushed or pushed and I felt like she really helped me understand my options. I'm not sure what happened with the last reviewer--maybe they prefer a doctor to give more of a single recommendation, instead of a back-and-forth conversation. As for me, I've been looking for a new doctor for myself and my family, and I think I've found her.

Maybe I caught Dr Cabodi on a bad day, but my experience with her was polar opposite to other reviewers. She failed to listen, repeatedly. At one point I had to stop the process and note that "we seem to have a miscommunication" and that still didn't help. She finished sentences for me, didn't allow me to thoughtfully analyze her question before answering, just went on to the next question. She was frustrated with me, and I with her. I have since found another doctor who works better with me.

I would recommend Dr. Cabodi to anyone. She is a very kind Doctor that weighs all the possible outcomes of fixing a medical problem, and then lets the pateint decide what they feel like going through with to help fix the problem.
