I saw this doctor for the first time. She was sincerely concerned about my health issues and gave me good advise. I felt very comfortable with her and pleased with the care I received. I would highly recommend her.

Took time to explain my lab results and gave me detailed history of my problem since my family has history of high cholesterol.I felt very much at ease and highly motivated to follow doctor protocol after talking with this doctor.

I scheduled an appointment specifically for cholesterol screening. The difficulty I experienced in simply making the appointment was only the beginning and I almost didn't keep it - looking back now I wish I had cancelled and gone elsewhere!During the office visit, Dr. Fortwengler was easy to talk to, listened attentively, and asked many questions. "Great!" I thought - I like her! While discussing the family history, I told her of my sister and cousin - both diagnosed in their 20's with high cholesterol. And that they were shocked that at 40 I had never had mine checked. I also mentioned that they both told me a symptom of high cholesterol was excessive underarm sweating (a condition all 3 of us share) and asked if that were true. She said probably not and prescribed an antiperspirant that worked wonders (which I am elated about!). After a couple of days, my labs were returned and indeed my cholesterol was quite high - prescription and follow up in 3-4 months. I want to mention Dr.… Fortwengler sent me a "Thank You" card in the mail stating she looked forward to our new relationship which I thought was a very thoughtful touch.After a couple of weeks I received a notice from Anthem that my visit was not being covered - what? When I called them to get to the bottom of it I was told that the office visit was coded to the sweating issue and not the cholesterol check. "Easy mistake" I thought and contacted the doctor's office to have it corrected. I was met with a very haughty office manager, Pam, who told me the bill could not be changed. I explained that the purpose, diagnosis, and treatment for my visit was cholesterol related and that the sweating was entirely incidental. She still insisted that changing the bill would amount to fraud - "no" I said, "not fraud - A MISTAKE". She argued (ARGUED!) with me over it and finally I asked to have Dr. Fortwengler call me so I could discuss it with her instead - after all, Pam was not a party to our visit and would not realize how absurd her argument was.After two phone messages to Dr. Fortwengler to correct the billing error went unanswered - at the end of my next visit (unrelated to the first) I politely asked if she had gotten my messages. I was told "Doctors do not speak to patients about billing" THE ARROGANCE! A good doctor will return a patient's phone call regardless of the matter! She went on to agree with the ridiculous argument I had already heard from the office manager, dismissing me with "I think we're done here".This young doc has A LOT to learn about putting her patients' concerns ahead of her ego! While we're at it, my friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers have all brought up another very good point - if she can't admit a simple error related to billing, what next?
