They aren’t doing the things you expect them to be doing, or they are struggling in school. In the back of your mind, you think something might be wrong and you’re not sure what to do about it.Dr. Jessica Myszak is a licensed psychologist who has been practicing since 2010. She specializes in psychological evaluations with children, and has worked in private practice and various settings doing evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults. She performs autism testing as early as 12 months and does developmental testing with children, sometimes prior to 12 months. She evaluates children for behavior problems, learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia), autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and other developmental or mental health concerns.By gathering information from parents and teachers about how a child is functioning in different settings, observing the child’s behavior, and testing their abilities in different areas, Dr. Myszak can pinpoint a child’s strengths and weaknesses, determine a diagnosis, and provide guidance and recommendations for the child, including whether early intervention therapy, support services through the school, tutoring, or other supports would be beneficial. Many skills, such as social skills and reading skills, build upon earlier learned abilities, so identifying difficulties and problems early on can help children get supports to focus on these key abilities which then open the door for further success.Dr. Myszak holds certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), an evidence-based therapy for children with behavior problems. She is also trained as a mental health coach for collaborative divorces and has completed training towards a perinatal mental health certification. Dr. Myszak was rated one of Memphis’ Top Three Psychologists in 2019.Dr. Myszak received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Georgia and her M.S. and Ph.D. in school psychology from Indiana University, where she specialized in social skills and autism spectrum disorder. She completed her internship and post-doctorate fellowship with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center / Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities in Memphis, Tennessee, where she gained further experience with children with developmental disabilities and their families (autism, ADHD, learning disorders, intellectual disabilities) and emotional problems. From 2011-2019, Dr. Myszak worked in a private practice setting in Memphis, Tennessee, where she performed psychological testing and therapy for children and adults. Though the majority of her practice was outpatient, she also worked with several local inpatient hospitals to determine the necessity for treatment for individuals who needed more help.    ***Therapy and many types of psychological assessment are currently available online.
