Dr. Jieun Anna Kim, MD

If I could do 0 stars I would. She is a TERRIBLE doctor. She has the worst bedside manner. She didn’t even greet me or my daughter when walking in just walked right past us. She asked us to sit in the chair and just started the exam. She didn’t interact with my child or make her feel comfortable with her at all. Did an exam for 10 seconds and drew her conclusions that she couldn’t find anything. Then proceeded to tell me it’s not that I don’t believe you several times, which clearly means she doesn’t believe me. I know something isn’t right with my daughters eyes and she didn’t even take the time to properly find out what I was seeing. She has trouble explaining herself as if she doesn’t know what she is doing. This is not okay! To say we had a horrible experience is an understatement.

My child was referred to Rady's by the family optometrist. We waited almost 3 months for an appointment. The day of our visit we waited for Dr. Kim for 55 minutes. She came in and did not make eye contact with us or said hi to her patient. I gave her a copy of the test results from the optometrist, but she didn't even look at them. After a very short examination, she prescribed glasses and said to schedule a follow up in 3 months. I asked about diagnosis and if my child was going to need an MRI (based on the optometrist findings), and she simply said that she was going to send a report to the referring physician. I continued to ask about diagnosis, and she seemed upset. She lacks bedside manners, doesn't explain patient's diagnosis, treatment, and is very dismissive. I hope Rady's Children Hospital reads this review and makes necessary changes because the attitude of this "Pediatric doctor" is just horrible.

Doctor Kim was VERY rude. She had a very hard time explaining our sons diagnosis, excused our questions, was perturbed by questions, and generally was disinterested. Overall, horrible experience. She needs to learn how to interact with patients. It seems that she does not like children - why are you in pediatrics if you don't care for kids? I couldn't have felt more put off as a parent. Wow.
