Dr. Jill K Burke, DO

Poor communication, did not provide complete information on treatment options. May be a good OB if you have a pregnancy without complications. I personally did not either talk to her (I was helped by a nurse practitioner on my first visit) or hear from her office unless I initiated contact or until after I requested a referral. My initial visit identified potential problems, resulting in prenatal testing and a referral to a specialist for the amniocentesis. The specialist was surprised that I had not received the results from the prenatal testing, and had to give me those results himself. I had to call for a follow up appointment after receiving lab results from the specialist, and I was never given access to any of my results. This promotes a feeling of not being able to be a party to my own diagnosis and treatment, and indeed, after receiving my diagnosis, Burke was not only insensitive (I was congratulated for my fatal diagnosis) and unwilling to even present all available options.… I am appreciative that she was able to refer me to a doctor who was able and willing to engage with me in a meaningful way, but in general, these interactions made a difficult situation worse.

Dr. Burke doesn't just rush you in and out of there. I can tell that she cares about me. She even got to know me. She understood why I need the medication I will get. She communicated very clearly what I am supposed to do when I run out of it.

Great doctor. Very easy to talk to, explains things well. Cares deeply about her patients. Delivered my sister's two very premature babies, and did all she could to help her in that difficult situation.

Dr. Burke is an excellent physician and person. Very easy to talk to. Delivered my last baby. Very up to date on current medical information & procedures.

I am a natural birth doula (natural birth assistant) and the first time I meet Dr. Burke I was the doula for one of her OB patients. I was so impressed with her commitment to the desires of this natural birth mom. When the labor got tough at the end she made this mother's natural birth goal a priority in her treatment. She stayed at this mother's bedside for hours and monitored her by hand so that this mother could cope with the harder labor pains in natural positions. I have rarely seen such care and commitment to natural childbirth from an OBGYN. We chatted after the birth and I could tell that she loved every minute of the natural birth experience.When I got pregnant with my miracle baby number two after waiting ten years, I went to Dr. Burke for my early prenatal care. Being a natural birth advocate and a doula I wanted a midwife for my labor, but because of my medical history I needed to feel comfotable that my labor would not become complicated before I made the switch. I knew… that Dr. Burke would respect my desires and that she would give me all of her tender care even though I intended to leave her care for the birth. I was not disappointed. She helped me through some very nervous months and always did whatever I need to put my mind at ease. She made it possible for me to go into the care of a midwife confident. I had a good healthy natural birth and I attribute much of that to Dr. Burke.If you are a women who wants a doctor who is thorough, open minded, and committed to working with her patients towards a holistic medical treatment Dr. Burke is an excellent choice.
