Dr. Jill Jeanette Chaplin, MD

Sorry but I quit her and she spreads herself too thin... I am NOT psychic. tried to refill a prescri ption for meds I take and will take the rest of my life....zero refills - she had no patient rapportr with me... she made me feel small

I think dr. Chaplin is a very cold uncaring doctor. She hasbrepeatedly made me feel uncomfortable and I have never once left an appointment feeling good. She will go out of her way to not refer you to a specialist if needed and seems have a power struggle with other physicians regarding my care. She has a bad reputation in the medical community so do your homework before scheduling an appointment. In addition she will play everything down and make you feel like an idiot.. I feel sorry for anyone that gets stuck with het. The previous two doctors went over to Riverbend so I basically inherited her with major regret!

Wonderfully professional and friendly Doctor, made me feel well cared for and at ease. She is competent and answered questions for me, it was a great appointment. Will definitely refer her, she is awesome!

The previous reviews for Dr Chaplin shocked me. My experience over the last 5 years has been quite the opposite. She has always taken the time, while making eye comtact, to listen to me and answer any and all questions I had. I am a five time cancer survivor and receive my oncology care at OHSU. Dr Chaplin has provided all other care and requested from the beginning to receive reports from them so she is fully informed and coordinates her care with theirs. Following all my surgeries, performed at OHSU, she has removed the many sutures always with concern and compassion for my comfort (and with gloves on, after washing her hands). On one occassion, a medication I was on caused me a great deal of anxiety; my mother died after taking the same medication years ago. I went in to the clinic and met with a triage nurse to discuss my issues. Despite the fact that I didn't have a Dr's appointment, she asked Dr Chaplin to come and taslk to me. She sat down in front of me, took my hands… and asked me to tell her all my fears-and then addressed them one by one. She assured me that I would be monitored closely...and I was. Further more, my husband who had a "Dr phobia" is also a more than satisfied patient of Dr Chaplin. He is a man who always wants complete answers to all questions-"everything looks fine" is NOT a complete answer. He has sung her praises since his first appointment. I suspect her directness, which we appreciate tremendously, could be mistaken for coldness by anyone who puts more emphasis on personality than technical skill. I am pleased to say she is my Dr; I have many friends and I appreciated the gift each bring to my life. My preference is that my Dr meet my medical needs and my friends, the social. In my many years associated with the medical community, I am fully aware that patients neede to proactive in their care. As such, communication both ways is vital. If situations occurred as stated in other reviews, the first one to hear it should be the Dr directly and at the moment. As for the talking into the microphone in front of the patient, it is documenting the visit. I want to know that accuate information is recorded, not based on trying to remember all of the patients at the end of the day.

Dr. Chaplin didn't seem to be a people person. Didn't seem to care and even joked about the pain I was in.I saw here because my doctor was out, it won't happen again.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Jill Chaplin is a decent doctor as far as her medical skills go. Her bedside manner is horrible to the point it is uncomfortable. She is cold and uncaring. When performing an exam she is not gentle. She will talk about you into a recorder right in front of you, as if you arent even there. I needed a primary care physician so peace health assigned me to her, but after 2 visits I quickly changed. I went in once with the flu, she told me to take Tylenol with whiskey (I was vomiting non-stop and underage). The second time I had awful pelvic pain, I wont go into detail but I will say I could hardly walk after her examination.

She did not use gloves at all during a rectal exam. This bothered me quite a bit. Maybe she doesn't mind, but i did!

Headline says it all. Don't look for empathy. However level of care is excellent. Personal demeanor is cold.
