At least an hour before being seen. No explanation. Issues I was having with hip bursitis could have been handled at my visit. Instead I had to seek another physician which appt was almost 5 mos later, to get a simple cortisone injection. Every other ache and pain in my joints was diagnosed as “Osteoarthritis “. No test to confirm anything.

I've been going to dr.ratain for 2years now and I've been to other dr.s from other states and im thankful for all she is doing for me. It's been a long road trying to find a treatment that works for me and we are still working on it, but with her being a concerned dr we are headed down the right road. I'm very grateful for dr.ratain. and for those complaining about your wait time i agree it's always long but it's not her fault that would be the office staffs job, and when you have people that are late it puts everyone behind. If you are in as much pain and physical disabled like i am its worth the wait to get the best treatment in this country. For the ones complaining do you know johnhopkins rhumatalogy is rated 1 in this country, they got that rate from the drs. Thank you dr.ratain

You'd think that being associated with a Johns Hopkins clinic, you would be getting quality care. Think again. Wait times are routinely an hour plus and don't expect an apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. Dr. Ratain has the warmth and personality of an ice cube and you get the impression from her that she's doing you a huge favor by just seeing you. I realize that this is a teaching practice, but there is no excuse for the lack of time spent with patients and complete and utter lack of follow through.

I think Dr Ratain is an excellent rheumatologist. After going to numerous doctors I finally found the answer to my problems through Dr Ratain. I have been going to her for several years and found her to be a thoughtful and concerned physician. She is not a "touchy-freely" doctor but as you get to know her she is a warm and caring clinician. I would highly recommend her.

She doesn't listen to you or treat you like a human being. She also doesn't answer your questions or take your concerns into consideration. I'm not that judgmental or picky typically, but she is really not a good doctor. Avoid if possible. I have no idea why a top-tier institution would employ a doctor who is so bad at interacting with patients.
