Dr. Jin-Hee Kim, MD

The appointment with Dr. Kim was a one of the worst I have ever had. I was referred to her as I had recurrent symptoms for an extended period of time. I am very disappointed and angry about the experience for the following reasons: she was dismissive, contrary, and generally portrayed a very I don’t care attitude; she expressed an exasperated, heavy sigh when exiting the room, as if she was annoyed or we were wasting her time; she refused to consider all of the symptoms and do testing to definitively rule out possible causes; she acted as if she knew it all and didn’t have time to listen to my husband or I; she didn’t examine me, just made her assumptions and based her entire course of action on those assumptions; she didn’t even review my extensive list of medications before prescribing new ones. It is sad, frustrating, and disheartening to have a doctor that is lacking in bedside manners and common decency. I will definitely not be returning or referring anyone to her.

As a nurse and clinical educator, I have the training and experience to say that my experience with Dr. Jin-Hee Kim demonstrates completely unacceptable conduct. I saw Dr. Kim today after two months of urinary / bladder pain with two episodes of severe pain and urinary bleeding that were so bad that I had to go to the ER. Dr. Kim was consistently dismissive of my report during our visit, completely unprepared, and constantly interrupted, leaving the room before I could even answer her inane questions about whether I could be mistaking my symptoms for menstrual cramping or constipation. She proceeded to do a cystoscopy without preparing me for the procedure in any way, without any anesthetic. The second she started I screamed in pain, and started crying and shaking uncontrollably. This is NOT normal for this procedure. She did not pause, or ask any questions, she just kept going, even when I started making choking and vomitting sounds because my pain was so severe that I was… trying not to vomit. Without telling me what she was doing she suddenly removed the scope and WITHOUT asking, aggressively inserted her hand into my vagina, probing and demanding I tell her where the pain was. My pain was so severe that I could barely speak, and she was holding my legs apart so hard that she left a bruise on one of my knees. She then said everything was normal and left abruptly. I was absolutely in shock after this experience. After consulting with several colleagues with long careers in urology, I am confident that the treatment I received violates every standard of care, and is completely unacceptable. I plan to write letters to the organization complaining about this treatment, and strongly advise all women to steer clear of this provider. Please do not go to her.

I have a complicated body for most Dr's. I was pleasantly suprised that I was listened to, understood, and provided with immediate testing. Our theory was proved, medication started immediately ,which put me an a much improved state. I was treated efficiently, with expedience and respect. I felt completely at ease knowing she would "get to the bottom of it, no matter what".I was extremely grateful!

I appreciated the communications which Dr. Kim gave me and also her follow up after a had my procedure. Thanks to her and her staff for a great job!

My complaint? Burning & aching bladder & urethra lasting 3 months. Dr. Kim did a vaginal exam and proclaimed that I was "impacted." Fact was I had simply not had a bowel movement that morning. (I saw her late morning or early p.m.) She put on a huge attitude about this (?!?). She asked me again to describe the discomfort I felt and so I did. She questioned my credibility. By this I mean that she did not believe me when I told her my urethra burned. She made a remark to the effect that I coud not tell the difference between my urethra and opening to my vagaina (!!!). I am 68, worked in healthcare nearly my entire life, which included as a nurse part of that time: believe me, I know my anatomy. However, Dr. Kim and her PA would have none of it. She did not order a UA, which I still feel was more than a mis-step on her part. I was given an rx for an estogen cream and phenazopyridine. Dr. Kim made a dash for the door at this point and I said, "What a second. How long before… I can expect results from the Extrace cream?" The PA, who was 3/4 of the way out the door (Dr. Kim was long gone) said with smirk on her face, "Oh, about 3 or 4 months." And with that, she shut the door. I have NEVER been so insulted by a "physician" and "assistant" in my life and have not returned. I now have a new physician who doesn't pile on attitude and disgust.

Still being seen by Dr Kim. However I am researching another doctor. We will see.

Dr. Kim is has a nice professional demeanor, and is respectful and engaged. In addition, she came highly recommended by another urologist, which would indicate she is respected in her field. I would very much like to recommend her. You may have to grit your teeth a little at the front desk, though, as the receptionist is not very personable. She wouldn't be my choice for a "front" person.
