Dr. Jin Yeop Kim

Jin Y. Kim, DDS, MPH, MS
Dr. Jin Y. Kim was raised in Sydney Australia, where he attended the University of Sydney Dental School from 1982-1986. He furthered his education with an advanced degree in pathology, which was obtained from the Medical School of University of Sydney, graduating with honors in 1988. From 1989-1991, he served as a Christian missionary in his native Korea, having been deployed by the Uniting Church of Australia. Dr. Kim then settled in California, where he completed master degrees in public health and oral biology, and a three-year specialty residency training program in periodontics and implant surgery at UCLA School of Dentistry. In 1999 he became board-certified by the American Board of Periodontology (ABP), and in 2001, became Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), and in 2007, Fellow of American Academy of Implant Dentistry. In 2006, he became board-certified by the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry …(ABOI/ID), making him a unique and rare dual board-certified specialist in the nation.
Dr. Kim has extensive clinical experience in clinical dentistry, and particular prides his valuable experiences as a general dentist from 1987-1994. In that period of time, he was able to practice in private practice settings, hospital settings, and in academic dentistry, in Australia, Korea, and in California. His exposure to many facets of restorative dentistry not only makes him better understand your case, he is able to communcicate and treatment plan your specific cases with the corresponding referring general dentists with deeper appreciation. Apart from specialty private practices in Diamond Bar, and Garden Grove, California, Dr. Kim is currently engaged in teaching of dental students, residents and fellow dental professionals, as a lecturer at UCLA School of Dentistry and as a sought-out international speaker. He has spoken at national and international academic and clinical podiums including the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), Academy of Osseointegration (AO), American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), European Federation of Periodontology (EuroPerio), International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD), California Society of Periodontists (CSP), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Korean Academy of Maxilofacial Implants, Columbia Society of Periodontology, and at a number of universities including New York University, USC, UCSF, Loma Linda University, University of Miami, Seoul National University, Wonkwang University, Chosun University, Chung San University, University of Sydney, University of Hong Kong, and of course, UCLA. Dr. Kim’s international lecture “appearances” span over USA, Australia, Canada, Spain, England, Jamaica, Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and Chile.
Dr. Kim is currently a consultant to four major dental implant companies and to a US surgical device manufacturer. His research has been published in respected scientific journals such as Journal of Periodontology, Annals of Periodontology, Dental Implantology Update, Journal of Dental Research, Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, and in several dental textbooks. He has translated a popular implant textbook into Korean language, and has contributed to a book chapter of a implant dentistry case textbook in Korea.
Dr. Kim is married to Dr. Connie Choi, a general dentist trained at USC School of Dentistry, and practicing tin the city of El Monte, California. They are the proud parents of three boys, Justin, Stanley, and Cameron. He enthusiastically participates in boy scout activities, having served as cub master for Pack 1238 in Fullerton, and currently as an assistant scoutmaster at Troop 93 in Fullerton, California.
