Dr. Jinhoon Hoon Choe, MD

I completely agree with the other review. I have been going to the Guidance Center for 6 weeks now and Dr. Choe is the worst doctor I have even seen in my entire life. It is hard to find a doctor who is liscensed to dispense methadone and I wish I had another option nearby. I feel like most of the people there are so inexperienced. I went in last Friday and my left eye was so swollen and I had an icepack on my face. They accused me of being high and would not give me my methadone dose. They kept saying things like "we have been doing this for a long time" or "we have seen this before, stop lying". My right eye was perfectly fine. I woke up and could not even open my left eye because it was so swollen because I had an allergic reaction. If I was high, would I walk in holding an ice pack on my eye, which only draws more attention to it. At the rate this doctor is going in getting me to a stable methadone dose, it will be a year from now. I came here for help and instead things are… getting worse.

This dr is absolutly terrible. He is the ONLY dr that supposedly "oversees" all of the patients that go to The Guidance Center, which is a methadone program where you are treated like a THIRD class citizen. No one there cares about your needs, how long you have been clean, or anything else. Even though this dr has the final "say and sign off" of every patient that goes there (probably over 200 people)you NEVER see him unless they are trying to give you a hard time about something, (ie, saying that you don't look well enough to be dosed, just because you're tired that day or have been crying).If this happens, you will be escorted to Dr Choe's office where he tells you to sit still with your eyes closed for 10 seconds. Regardless of the outcome, he always says "Don't administer a dose". Then you are sent home to feel sick and return the next day, hoping that no one will look at you the wrong way and decide to do the same thing again. In 4 years time, I have seen this dr maybe 2x. And he… is the one prescribing this controlled medication that no one wants you to EVER get off of? Meanwhile, they LOVE collecting fees that you can't afford, and will always threaten to detox you so fast that you will be unable to function if you don't pay up in time. Unfortunatly, unless you want to go to another town, or very far from home, there is NO alternative to this doctor or this treatment facility. You are TRAPPED.
