Dr. Joachim Jude Tenuta, MD

Excellent orthopedic surgeon who was able to diagnose my painful sacroiliac joint problem after three other doctors misdiagnosed me. He referred me to a skilled colleague of his and I finally got relief from my pain. Dr. Tenuta is an exceptional doctor. He is very caring and compassionate. Highly recommended!

The most arrogant and unprofessional doctor I've seen in a very long time, I wouldn't recommend Tenuta to anyone. I have been receiving injections for joint pain for years. I am always treated well by my other provider. This man doesn't orient with you or your chart (he was in the wrong chart until the very end of my visit) He is rushed, doesn't answer questions, provides no instruction for after care and is overly rough with a very limited exam and brutal in giving the shots. After two unnecessarily painful knee injections I was laid up for 3 days. He should have NUMBED the knees first and didn't - Go to someone else and Joachim Tenuta this is not active combat medicine in Somalia, Hati or Iraq have some compassion for the Veterans you treat.

My greatest regret is trusting Dr. Tenuta with my surgery. I was left with severe nerve damage and Dr Tenuta appears to have no idea how to treat it. Follow-up visits are several minutes - he may take a superficial look and say he saw improvement, though he has never once taken a measurement to see how my range of motion is. It has not improved, despite his "observations". Often at my visits he will mention he spoke to a colleague who provided him some insights into my condition, if he has to ask for insights shouldn't I be seeing the colleague? I have zero confidence in him. Unfortunately, finding another orthopedic surgeon to take over has proved difficult. Dr Tenuta is a joke, unfortunately I was punchline in this case. DO NOT TRUST HIM.

Didn't listen, didn't help, told me to come back if pain continued. I said it had "continued" for two years. He said, basically, well, come back then. No help whatsoever, and completely disinterested.

Arrogant, rude, dismissive. Spent very little and even less care.

After Dr. Tenuta gave me a diagnosis, he left before giving me a chance to ask questions. It turned out though that his diagnosis was wrong and that I actually have a different problem that I need to deal with. Maybe if he spent more time with me he would have realized he was wrong or it could be that he is just incompetent. What a waste of my time and money! Too bad there wasn't a satisfaction guarantee!

Dr. Tenuta makes a decent first impression: he will shake your hand, looking straight into your eyes. And then he stops listening. I had three visits with him. Decide yourself whether you should seek care from this person: First visit: Broken left ankle (from the day before), and the right ankle (broken 3 years ago). Few months before the visit, I started to have episodes of unbearable pain in the right ankle, coming out of nowhere. I scream, I can't walk. I start telling all this to dr. Tenuta. He doesn't want to deal with the right ankle:-"first, let's take care of the recently broken one. He sends me for an X-ray for just the left one. Total time spent with me - 5 min. Charge -around $600. Second visit - a month later : left ankle (broken a month ago) is fine. Now I get both ankles x-rayed. Dr. Tenuta declares that "everything looks great". I complain about the sharp pain in the right ankle - he sends me for physical therapy. Total time spent with me - 3 min. I know that in… the case when the sharp pain in the joint broken 3 years ago starts to come out of nowhere without any apparent cause, physical therapy doesn't make sense. But the doctor doesn't listen - he is in a rush. Physical therapy made the pain worse. The ankle is now swollen more than before. A month is lost. The physical therapist wrote a long letter to dr Tenuta, explaining that PT is not a solution. She suggests an MRI. Visit 3: Dr Tenuta looks me in the eyes, shakes my hand. He didn't read the notes from my physical therapist, so I have to explain everything myself. The end of a 2- minute visit: "I have no idea what's wrong with you. I am going to send you to an ankle specialist. Goodbye" The charge - regular office visit. I objected to the charge, even though I didn't have to pay personally. The receptionist talked to the manager and to dr Tenuta - they insisted on it. I have been to four doctors at Capital Region Orthopedics over the years. The general impression of this office : it's all about money, money and money. Patients are the last thing they care about. No one listens, no one cares. Maybe I was unlucky - you judge.

Dr. Tenuta quickly and accurately diagnosed my orthepedic issue and provided a straight forward no nonsense course of action. Office visits and out patient surgery were done in a timely and professional manner. Highly recommended.
