Dr. Joan Susan Elkins, MD

Had a follow-up conversation with Dr. Elkins on the phone concerning my 16-year old daughter's diet. Felt my questions were answered sharply, impatiently, and with disdain. My daughter requested a new primary care physician afterwards. Would encourage Dr. Elkins to reflect upon her personal manner.

My mother had emergency surgery and was in incredible pain afterwards, because it was major. This "doctor" immediately came to the decision that we should just let her die. She said we should stop nutrition and just give her a morphine drip, until she was gone. We resisted, because it had only been three days, and of course mom would be in intense pain. "Doctor" Elkins said that it would be best to put her out of her misery. Shocking!! Two months later, mom is doing great and almost 100% back to her old self. I'm considering a lawsuit, because I have recordings of "Dr." Elkins telling us to let mom die. She verges on evil, actually. Please, stay far away from this person.

She is awesome very caring

I saw her for a year and it was a very bad experience for me. I have a few medical conditions and she didn't wan't to deal with and refered me out to specialist for all of them. Generally had no time, was very curt, rude and insensitive. I lost weight and lowered my A1C level and never good enough. I had enough with her and left the practice, as a human being I deserve better medical care. She is not meant to be a Family Practice Doctor!!!

She told me I would “lose my baby” and that if she were in my shoes she would “consider the options” without even asking what I wished to do regarding my pregnancy. I hope they find someone less judgmental and someone that actually CARES about the patients feelings.

Don’t expect her to care for you - everything is “referred” out to anyone else. Doesn’t matter if you’ve been in same asthma med for 5 years - if she doesn’t want to write the scrip expect to have to see (and pay for) a pulmonologist appt. Does all her notes on computer (updating and visit notes) during appt (which is never on time) and that is the time for your appt (eg 30 secs to talk about what’s wrong). No time for patients, so no time for her!! Yet still bills my insurance for doing nothing but forcing the need for another appt.

Patients time is valuable too. This office has little respect for her patients time.

Went for a complete physical. She never looked at me... just played with her laptop. Rude and uncommunicative. She never sent me any results concerning bloodwork. Other people I have met who had appointments with her expressed the same disappointment.

I have seen her several times in the last few months. I developed a serious health issue and needed to see my PCP more often. Maybe Dr. Elkins doesn't mean to be rude; but I've never had a visit with her that she didn't say something that was offensive. I called with a question, she (or her MA) did not call back. She told me that she could only discuss three issues at visit and if I wanted to discuss problems with my knees, I'd need to make another appointment because I had taken up more than my share of her time.

Dr. Elkins has always been attentive, caring, and understanding in my dealings with her. Simply put; she takes the time.
