Dr. Joan Martich, MD

I really liked Dr Martich the first time I met her. I had to wait a really long time, however felt at the time she was worth the wait since I don't have to go to the doctor often. This was just for an annual exam and flu shot. The next time I went back was for an actual problem (I'd gotten DVT due to bedrest while pregnant, this was a follow up to that). This time I spent literally hours in the office, of which maybe 10 were with the doctor (90 min in the waiting room, another 45 mins in the exam room waiting for the dr after the nurse left). She also had some comments about my new baby that kind of rubbed me the wrong way (he was a preemie, she was kind of negative instead of offering me hope and being pleased to hear he was doing well, I was probably being an overly sensitive new mom, but I've seen many medical professionals recently and they were all much more compassionate) I went back again a couple of months later for another follow-up, this time I finally *only* had to wait 30… mins (sad that's an "only"). She commented on my weight loss comparing my current weight to the last time she saw me (remember I'd given birth a few months before so my body was working it's way back to its natural state!) as if it were a bad thing, "we wouldn't want you losing more weight". Even if I hadn't just given birth a few months before, my BMI was a little high so she should be encouraging me to be a healthy weight not saying I shouldn't be losing weight. After seeing her three times I've decided that while she's a fine doctor, she's not that great and definitely not worth the horrible wait times.
