Dr. Joan Alice Osder, MD

This doctor basically ruined my life. By which I mean my face, self-esteem, and bank account. She missed a basal cell carcinoma that was growing on my nose for years — while I faithfully went for skin checks every 6-8 months. By the time it was caught it was so large that the Mohs surgeon sent me to a plastic surgeon for repair work and I am about to have my fourth surgery (under general anesthesia). The plastic surgeon says I'll likely need two more surgeries and has been straightforward that my face will never look the same again. I have lost wages due to time needed off from work, opportunities, in that I have had to say no to professional events while recovering from each surgery, am embarrassed enough by how I look that I won't attend social events, and haven't left my house without medical tape on my face in over six months. The plastic surgeon made it clear it will likely by a year (or more) before I look less disfigured and we get this repair as "good as it can get." I… thought she was a competent, experienced doctor but to miss this says something else. No doctor is infallible, and I'm sure she regrets her negligence, but I will bear the brunt of this for the rest of my life. Stay away.

express no opinion on Dr. Osder's competence. My purpose in writing this review is to warn any prospective patient about Dr. Osder's scheduling practices. EXPECT TO WAIT MANY WEEKS FOR A ROUTINE CHECKUP/APPOINTMENT AND DO NOT BE SURPRISED IF THE DR. CANCELS YOUR APPOINTMENT AND RESCHEDULES IT WEEKS LATER THAN ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED. If I knew that before I first went to Dr. Osder I would have selected another dermatologist (which I have since done. . . and found out a biopsy was required without waiting 3 months for my potentially cancerous growth to continue growing).

I have been seeing Dr Osder for over 5 years now.She came highly recommended to begin with.I found her bedside manner to be extremely caring and patient. She does not rush you out of the office and is very clear and concise on everything she does for treatments. She has a gentle touch and is an expert at where to inject fillers and she doesn't over-do it nor try to talk you into anything else. I moved 3 hours away over 2 years ago but still make the trip to see Dr Osder because she is simply the very best Dermatologist for all and any of your needs, be it cosmetic or other.
