Dr. Joan Thanh To

I had a terrible experience with Joan. I came in for a cleaning which she refused to do. She pushed for a "deep cleaning" costing $1000 which she said was covered by insurance but obviously is not from the estimate she provided. I left and went to another dentist who had the opinion that I only needed a regular cleaning. I later read about how her office is associated with Pacific Dental Services (PDS) DSO which pushes all their dentists to upsell services such as laser deep cleaning and microbial rinses instead of typical cleanings and crown/inlay/onlay instead of typical filling for their patients as a quick way to make money. If you choose to go, please be very careful and review the estimates very carefully before approving any work done here!

Ugh! I would give zero stars if I could! Dr. To is not an experienced dentist nor seems to take an interest in her patients. Don't be fooled by her smile. She misses the bigger picture and won't take the initiative to examine all your teeth to see if there is anything else wrong. I went to see in Sept. for a root canal. In spite of taking x-rays of my other teeth she appeared not to look at them at all. She fixed the root canal and I just assumed she checked all of my other teeth since she took and charge me for the x-rays. Two months later I had a tooth ache and I saw another dentist and he showed me serious decay in 3 back molars and now need two root canals and an implant! All costing over $15,000!! If Dr. To had been doing her job and looking at all of my teeth she should have found those 3 additional problems two month earlier. But she obviously chose to not ever look at my other teeth which seriously violated my trust in her. She collected her $1,149 for the root canal and ignore… the three other problems with my teeth which are not in a serious state of decay and will run $15,000 or so to get them fixed. Why take and charge me for all the other X-days if she's not going to look at them. Dr. To violated my trust as a dentist by not considering my dental health. She also never discussed options with me and I found out she installed cheap plastic filling which I told her to install the best fillings possible which would hold of for 15 years. Instead she cut corners and put in cheap plastic filling 2 years go which now need to be removed and replaced yet again. I recommend you avoid this dentist at all cost.
