I had to pick Dr. Mayer out of the phonebook because I had no one to ask. So far, I am very pleased with the care I have received.

She is very professional, spends necessary time with you. Is thorough, but no unnecessary nonsense. I consider myself in a competent environment when I go to her. I lucked out because I had no one to ask. Highly recommend her.

She is competent, and does not waste your time or hers. She patiently answers any questions, stays on schedule, spends whatever time you require and is very personable. I have complete confidence in her ability. Plan to continue with her.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Hope. I had had my initial surgery for gyn cancer elsewhere, and then moved to Anchorage (right afterwards), and tried to get followup from Dr.Hope's office. She blew me off.

She is hard to get into see but the wait is worth it!!! I had a 'mass' in my abdomen that was suspected to be, and turned out to be, an ovarian tumor. I got all my options up front. Dr. Hope was thorough and kept asking me if I had any questions or needed more clarification of her explanations. Her nurse, Chris, though unable to answer my questions at the time I called, did get back to me before the end of the day. I saw Dr. Hope the day of my surgery and every day of my hospital stay. She did such a good job I was pain-meds free in two days and went home days earlier than my expected hospital stay. I don't know if I'm very lucky or just had a fabulous surgeon or both.

I considered Dr. Joanie Hope a priceless gift when i was a patient at Bellevue Hospital. She's a straight talker who never sugar coats anything, which I appreciated more than anything. She gives you any and all information you need to make intelligent choices in regards to your care. She is completely thorough and somehow manages to be both tough and caring. I completely trusted her and continue to do so, as I am still under her care as an out-patient. The respect I have for her is because of the above and the fact that she made me feel so respected at a time when one feels so very vulnerable. She's patient, available and just an excellent doctor. And I love that she's a musician. She rocks!
