Dr. Joann Urquhart, MD

I did not have a good experience with Dr. Urquhart. Of the three in-office visits I had, the wait was over an hour twice. I was seen for postprandial (after meal) tachycardia and BP disturbances, which had already been diagnosed by a different cardiologist. I was looking for treatment as this condition is quite debilitating. Instead I got a repeat of the tests already completed (plus some others) and a medication that made things worse. After Dr. Urquhart established that I didn't have any diseases of the heart and circulatory system, she was done. She asked me what my internist thought of "all this." Really? He was the one who referred me to a cardiologist. Postprandial problems with the cardiac rythm and blood pressure can be caused by a variety of endocrine and GI issues (reactive hypoglycemia, dumping syndrome, etc.), especially in people over 50. Dr. Urquhart seemed to have no knowledge in this area and no interest in helping me get relief. Very disheartening, no pun intended.

I found the best cardiologist in the area. Pregnant and having shortness of breathe, 33 years ago, I was lucky that Dr. Urquhart provided what both myself and my first baby needed. I continued, and still today, to be under her care, visiting every 6 months, and now once a year. With my second birth, I was having issues. She recommended a specialist to deliver the baby, and Dr. Urquhart was by my side, monitoring my condition, and was there when my baby was born. The office staff has always been accommodating and friendly. Professional and spent numerous hours fighting for me with insurance companies. And, when we consult after the exam, I have never felt rushed to get out. No question went unanswered. This is rare.

The doctor is great she still is one of the last Doctors hand on hand she takes her time but sometimes you have to wait for 3 hours in the room with a gown, sometimes the room is to cold they work me up fast but the wait to see the Doctor is the longest wait I ever been in the Doctors room. I appreciated the Hand on hand Doctor but to long of a wait.

Dr. Urquhart is an exceptional cardiologist, and always takes the time needed to go over one's medical situation - diagnosis, path forward, appropriate lifestyle changes, etc. She is not one to just fill out an Rx pad; rather, she gives sage advice on diet, exercise and lifestyle to complement any meds needed. And, she practices what she preaches!

I owe Dr. Urquhart my life. No other doctor ever diagnosed my problem and Dr. Urquhart found it and sent me for surgery. I have felt great since surgery and still see her two times a year. I do not have enough praise for Dr. Urquhart.

I have been a patient of Dr Urquharts for many years. She alone properly diagnosed my two atypical heart conditions, where others have failed. She is an excellent cardiologist, and factors in your entire health backgound when giving advice. As others have said, her office is small and not fancy, but I don't see her for her office. Her care and manner with her patients is superb. You are never rushed and she always makes you feel like you are a person and not just another appointment. Bring a book for the waiting room, she is rarely on schedule, but after your visit you will never complain. She is an absolutely superb cardiologist and excellent doctor overall. I trust her expert advice, and this is the highest praise we can say about any doctor.

Dr. Urquhart makes you feel like you are her only patient. That's really all that matters. Aside from that, the wait to be seen can be long, but eventually worth it.

Very thorough, remembers patients' history

I've been a patient of Dr. Urquart's for many years. She always makes time for any health issues that might be of concern to me. Her office isn't anything to write home about, however, her professionalism and care is something to be touted. (Haven't seen the new office yet.)

Love her straight up approach to good health. Committed to patient care as observed in her manner and suggestion.
