Dr Joanna Lee Heindl, DO

Dr Heindl is... okay. She is not actively cruel or hostile towards patients, but once I started trying to get medicine my psychologist really believed would be beneficial, Dr. Heindl pushed back in a way that felt dismissive of how genuinely awful I was feeling. She can come across as patronizing as well. I went in one session about my mental health options and was told to worry instead about my weight and try Weight Watchers. She knows I can't afford a program like that, and that the mental health issues I came in to address were an active blocker to a healthier lifestyle. Really disappointed in my experience with Dr. Heindl, will be looking elsewhere.

I do not have confidence I can rely on her in the event of an emergency. There is no way to leave a message with the office during lunch hours or after hours. She will not communicate about specific issues at the online portal. She says it's not secure despite the fact that a patient's records are there. She will call you back in the evening, but if you miss the phone call, you're out of luck and have to make another appointment to talk with her. I am looking elsewhere for a doctor.

She is great. Very interested in whatever problem I present. Has a wonderful sense of humor. She makes recommendations without pushing. She’s called us at home with concerns and talked with both my husband and I to make sure we understood issues. I highly recommend her.

She is pleasant but not personable or empathetic. I don't feel that she takes an interest in me as a person. She discounts my concerns and judgement of what's going on. Visits feel rushed. She doesn't follow through on conditions or treatments leaving me to seek treatment with specialists on my own. Not the kind of doctor I feel I can confide in. I've been a patient for three years and am looking for another doctor now.
