Initially upon returning back to Maine from Florida the wait time was disastrous in comparison to to Florida to say the least which is not her fault. Regardless of the wait time I was so happy to have gotten to see her and she's taking great care of me and is very thorough. Her knowledge and bedside manner speaks volumes about who she is as a person and doctor. I felt very comfortable and I am now too one of the blessed ones to have her as my physician and surgeon. I would highly recommend her.

Dr Swartzbaugh is the best Doctor I have ever gone to. She is thorough she listens to me. She’s great at getting back to her patients. I have been her patient for 14 years she has done several surgeries on me. We are very lucky to have her here in Bangor. She has a wonderful bedside manner.

Loved her! Went to Boston and came back made an appointment with her and I knew she was the doctor for me!

She is a kind, knowledgeable doctor. I went to Boston for an opinion on my spine and left there very unsure of the doctor. When I met Dr. Swartzbaugh, I knew I could 100% trust her. My surgery was a breeze. I had no pain from what she did when she replaced a disc in my neck. 2 months later I am extremely happy that I chose her.

Requested referral to Dr. Swartzbaugh based on reviews and recommendations. I was in severe pain, had weakness and numbness in my leg, and my neuro exam was abnormal. Based on my MRI, she told my PCP that surgery wasn’t indicated and no appointment was necessary. I then went to Maine Spine Surgery, and they were phenomenal. I had a partial laminectomy based on clinical exam and the review of my MRI. I am now completely pain free. Very disappointed in the way in which this office functions. IMHO, a physician should not refuse to see a patient based on xrays alone.

The best among the very best, An absolutely wonderful Doctor as well as a person. So thankful that I found her.

Dr. Swartzbaugh and her team were most helpful in getting me in. Even when I had an appointment to attend afterwards, they were receptive in helping me. The office got me in for a visit within 2 days of calling. Had to wait a bit as Dr.S was fitting me in between other appointments. She reviewed my MRI and consulted with colleagues and shared her thoughts. I had previously gone through a different neurosurgeon in WTVL who had immediately scheduled surgery for my C7-T1 herniated disc with significant nerve compression. After entering day surgery and being anesthetized, the surgical team was unable to begin/complete as ventilation became compromised. I woke up to find the surgery had not been completed and was referred, by my request, to Dr.S. I am a woman, mother and a Registered Nurse. I found Dr. S to be with knowledge of my condition. She stated upfront what the cons/pros were for any spinal surgery and options for consideration, prior to attempted surgery. She was personable, made me feel comfortable and important, and took her time with me. She acknowledged that she would be unable for perform the surgical procedure I required but… gave me another surgeon who, because of his "old school" methods, might be the best option. She also steered me towards utilizing the steroid (?) injections to minimize discomfort and to "calm" the nerve down. She showed me my MRI, which I hadn't yet been shown, and explained why she could not assist me more. Dr. S. gave me over an hours worth of her time, then refused to charge me as she could not help me further. She has earned both my respect and my admiration for the humanity she included with her review. If you want the truth, without sugar coating, and getting all of your options on the table....If you want the best working on YOUR spine, do what I did....See Dr. S. You won't regret it for a moment.
