Dr. Joanne L Pizzino, MD

Dr. Pizzino was very caring and detailed in her examination. She spent over an hour with me at each visit. She listened to my symptoms and suggested laboratory testing that no other doctors had mentioned. Some of these tests were not covered by insurance, but she told me is was my option to do them, and still offered treatment when I could not do the test. It took several months to get all my symptoms under control, but she kept working at them until I felt better than I had in years. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Pizzino was an answer to prayer. I was in extreme pain and experiencing terrible fatigue. This happened suddenly to me and became worse and worse as several months went by. I went to several Doctors ( specialist) who all rne the standard test even a lyme test because I told them I I found a tick on my leg . A standard lyme test came back negative . They gave me a prescription for antidepressants and sent me home. I guess I was depressed because I was in pain all the time. I just kept praying that God would help me , that He would send me the answer of what was wrong . Then I found Dr. Pizzino who listened to me. She ordered a western blot test and it came back positive for Lyme. She prescribed a rotation of antibiotics and ivs of vitamins to strengthen my immune system. This treatment took over a year, but today I feel as well as I did before the Lyme. I had Lyme diease for months with no treatment before I went to her. Some people have permeant issues from that . It… has been almost 4 years since that tick bite and I feel great. I don't think I could say that if I had not found Dr. Pizzino.

Dr. Pizzino's medical assistant, Shana, is rude, condescending, unsympathetic, and unhelpful. If you make it past her, Dr. Pizzino is equally as unpleasurable. She talks in terms that cannot be understood by a non-medical lay person. I later learned through another doctor that the labs she ordered did not even indicate I needed the T3 that she subsequently prescribed for thyroid problems. When I had complications with this drug, I was unable to reach Dr. P and was advised by Shana that I could "just quit taking the T3. She gave me this information without consulting Dr. Pizzino. When I asked if she had that authority, she rudely replied, "Yes." (This is absolutely untrue.) She also diagnosed me with viruses that she wanted to treat with an antiviral drug that is so dangerous that it's not approved for use in the USA because the side effects are so severe that you have to sign a waiver stating that you won't hold her legally liable. In a nutshell, Dr. Pizzino is a con artist.… She's all about spending the least amount of time with her patients and making the greatest amount of money. I would never recommended her to anyone for any reason. I have since found a wonderful doctor, Dr. Dennis Fera, in Hillsboro, who is helping me greatly and who I would wholeheartedly recommend.

I was experiencing incredibly annoying but not debilitating side effects from my Hashimoto's. I went to Dr. Pizzino on the recommendation of a colleague. The first thing her assistant did was measure my body fat ratio then take measurements on all my acupuncture points. Each acupuncture point was supposed to measure some internal organ or function and say whether it was green, yellow, or red which of course green means good. So I'm trying to keep an open mind until it gets to the uterus and it turns up green. Having had a hysterectomy about 2 years ago, I asked what that meant given that I didn't have a uterus...and the assistant said that it was measuring how I felt about not having a uterus. :-) Anyway, still seeking relief, I mustered on. Dr Pizzino ordered lots of lab tests but since the lab tests were going to take a couple of weeks decided not to wait for the results. Instead she took me off of the Levothyroxine I was on and put me on straight T3 through a compounding… pharmacy. It was supposed to be 10 mcg for 10 days, then 20 mcg for 10 days, and max'ing out at 30 mcg from that point onward. After 6 days on the 10 mcg, I called her and said that I was so fatigued I could barely move...and fatigue had never been a symptom I had had before. She said to go ahead and go to taking 20 mcg. This had the effect of sending me into hyperthyroidism. Every symptom they list for hyperthyroidism, I had: headaches, nausea, vomiting, jitteryness, nervousness, anxiety, full body tremors, sweats. I contacted her on Monday right after the weekend and she didn't respond. Monday night was horrible. The body tremors were all-encompassing such that I could only manage to sleep for about 2 hours if I slept sitting up hugging my knees to my chest. Symptoms were so bad I was afraid for my life. So I went into her office first thing on Tuesday morning and she wouldn't see me. She had another appointment where she was counseling someone on meditation and nutritional shakes. She said I could come back at 3:30.

Dr. Pizzino took a lot of time to listen to me, did a thorough examination, and then types of lab work my regular doctor didn't do. She was able to determine the sources of my fatigue and migraines included blood sugar issues, food sensitivities, hormonal problems and hidden infections. Her program took several weeks to complete, and I felt like a new person by the time I was done. I still have to follow the dietary guidelines, but I have good energy, sleep well, and haven't had a headache in almost a year.

Dr. Pizzino diagnoses and treats a variety of illnesses that are not treated or detected by main stream medical doctors but have a tremendous affect on one's overall health. Although 12 other doctors alluded to the fact that I had certain conditions, they would or could not definitely diagnosis the issues and had no treatment plan. I have learned a tremendous amount of information about my conditions and what treatment plans will work and have had improvement in my situtation. Her staff is small but courteous and helpful. Her costs are in line with other physicians with treatment programs like hers. It would be nice if insurance covered these services up front, butthat would mean an overhaul of the insurance industry. Although the treatment has been costly, I believe the long term health benefits are well worth it.

Made an appointment with Dr. Pizzino for BHRT (bio-identical hormone therapy) post-hysterectomy. After arriving and completing volumes of paperwork outlining symptoms, history, etc. and waiting, a tech used a device to measure levels of "energy" through my skin and then pronounced "your major areas of concern are ______ (what was already in the file on her desk). They charged $$ for this, then said another appointment the following week would be necessary to see Pizzino. The office staff explained: the doctor requires that this test, which is not covered by insurance, is completed before seeing patients for every visit. Also, it's not possible to see both the tech and the doctor on the same day. And it usually takes six appointments and lots of other testing to make recommendations for the supplements (vitamins) they wanted to sell. Later learned Pizzino is not ABAARM board certified and hasn't even completed a fellowship. A shame. Certainly didn't return.

Called for an appointment and got in right away. For the first appt she seemed very professional diagnosed me w/ fibro which I already knew but was going to her since she was suppose to be a specialist. Office does not take insurance so I had to pay cash for every visit and every test. Went in for 2nd test to take blood. Put me on thyroid medicine said to come back in 6 weeks. Wanted me to go to a sleep study (w/ colleague in same bldg), go on a special yeast free diet, spend $80 to send out for a food allergy test, etc. Never heard back about my test results. Called for a copy of them and told they had "just" mailed them. So far its been over a week and still haven't received them. When I called for 6 week check up they told me it would be 3 months b4 I could get another appt. Spent $480 in two visits and still have no relief from my pain and no plan in place for me to ever get better. Don't waste ur money or ur time.!!!!
