Dr. Jocelyn K Eiche, MD

Jocelyn Eiche delivered my son at the end of the ‘80s when birthing rooms were new — a critical fact that will be explained below. She was repeatedly called by the hospital but refused to come until I was closer to delivery. When she arrived, she took one look at the monitor and the paper reports from the monitor (I don’t know the technical name for these) and shot a look of fury around at the personnel in the room. I was “flown,” IV bags swinging, down the hallway to a delivery room, where she inserted forceps — this was after I had received absolutely zero pain relief over 13 hours of labor (including being induced with pitocin). My son’s first Apgar was 3. He was in NICU for 12 days. I was unable to nurse him until the 8th day. At my follow-up visit with Eiche several days later, she stated the following to me and my husband: “If you hadn’t asked to have a birthing room, all of this probably wouldn’t have happened.”

I had Dr. Eiche a long time ago. She delivered my 2 sons, who are now 29 and 31. I thought she was an excellent surgeon, as I had to have c-sections each time. I felt she was knowledgeable and smart. I was never impressed with her bedside manner, as I felt she was arrogant and condescending. But, felt as long as she did a great job for me during my pregnancies, that was my main focus. Then, she scheduled a hysterectomy for me. She was running approximately 6 hours behind schedule. I should have rescheduled that surgery because she must have been rushed and I ended up with serious issues. I came home with a catheter, had a fever and for the first 1 1/2 days of being home, delirious and so ill I could not get to the bathroom by myself. My husband almost called 911 for an ambulance. Then, shortly thereafter, I started coming out of it. I was in constant pain. For the next 2 months. My regular doctor was the one who FINALLY figured out what was going on almost 2 months later of being… miserable. Dr. Eiche had absolutely no idea as to what could be causing my pain OR the fact that the right side of my stomach was hard and not healing. She even got together with her colleagues, she claims, and no one had any ideas on it. So, I was kind of blown off with the idea that it was all in my head. Because of whatever she did, I ended up needing extensive hernia and tummy tuck (only for organ support) surgery and it took me a long to recover. Thankfully I had 2 wonderful surgeons who did the hernia and tummy tuck. All I wanted was to be able to talk to her about it. I was not even able to talk to Dr. Eiche to relay the info to her on what had happened. She wouldn't take my calls, she would not see me. All I wanted was some compassion from her and an explanation. And maybe just an apology. Dr. Eiche does not like to held accountable. I should have sued her. If you think Dr. Jocelyn Eiche is good, think again.

Choose another Doctor!

While I don't doubt any of the reviews here to be honest from the writers point of view, I have to speak on Dr. Eiche's behalf. She does sometimes come off as condescending and cold, but she is a very competent doctor. I have been seeing her for 26 years and she saw me through 3 healthy pregnancies. Thankfully I have not had any serious medical conditions, but she is who I would want should one come up. If you need coddling and sugar-coated medical advise look else where, but if you just want a smart doctor who listens and takes care of you Dr. Eiche is the best out there.

Dr Eiche was the worst doctor I have ever been to. She was rude and misdiagnosed me.

So, I was squeezed in w/Dr. Eiche because my normal gyno was out of town and it was important for me to be seen ASAP. I read the reviews the night before my appt, and tried to hope that they were just the exception rather than the rule. Nope - turns out they're accurate...her bedside manner is horrible! I felt so uncomfortable. She did not tolerate any weakness on my part - which is the last thing you want when you're in such a vulnerable position! I was already in a lot of pain, and had trouble relaxing to be examined - she was so ticked off! Needless to say, I started crying as soon as I got in my car, and will NEVER go back to her.

This will be my second baby delivered by Dr. Eiche, I agree that her bedside manner could improve, and she might seem condescending at times, however she has always been on top of all my complications and has always treated me promptly, I had Hypermesis with the first baby she delivered and she didn't hesitate to treat me aggressively and well, with the second baby I had preterm labor and same thing. At the end of the day I want a doctor who is a good doctor and knows how to treat me, I have enough people to hold my hands, so I take knowledge over niceness anytime.

If you are looking for a doctor who will listen to you and will be simpathetic to your needs, DO NOT see Eiche. She has a terrible bedside manner and treats patients like they are wasting her time.
