Dr. Jody Leonardo, MD

The first time I met with Dr. Leonardo I cried. After six months I finally had an answer and a direction. Her staff was so amazing and kind, she took the time to show my husband and I the MRI, what she was seeing, explain to us what it was and what her plan was. She told me that I "had a ligitamat situation in my brain" and I started crying. I was vindicated finally that I wasn't making this up something was actually going on. We were given phone numbers to contact everyone we needed to if something happened, she told my husband a list of things to look out for and if he saw any of them to bring me back SPECIFICALLY to Allegheny General, we were to work specifically with her doctors in her referral system. Her staff scheduled all my tests within the next week. Literally I had four appointments in a row! The next week! We needed to get this done now and she made it happen! I was so excited going into her office at the end of the week. Finally going to put the plan together and get this… taken care of. Well the first clue I was no longer a priority came when we had to wait two hours for her to come into the exam room. My appointment was at 8:15 she finally came in at 10:10. She didn't even bother to close the door and started talking "GOOD NEWS YOU DINT NEED SURGERY!" Your tests came back negative and I am going to refer you to a neurologist that specializes in headaches they give you information as you leave good luck! I was in shock! So I go up to the same woman who was so kind and sweet setting up all the appointments before but suddenly only had time to hand me the paperwork and tell me I have to contact the new doctor and schedule my own appointment. Then we literally got the bums rush out the door! After it sunk in I called back because I had a lot of questions so I called the Nurse Practitioner and left a message say what in the heck just happened? What happened to all the stuff she showed us on the MRI, the blood work, the plans for surgery? She called back and said well the tests showed none of that was there so she referred you. WHAT THE HECK! Dr. Leonardo had scheduled one last test for me, a CT scan. No one even called me to tell me the results THEY LEFT A MESSAGE IN MYCHART SAYING GOOD NEWS NO PROBLEMS DETECTED HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND! Yea as soon as she found out she was not getting money out of me she was on to the next gold mine. I would never recommend her EVER.

Doctor Leonardo removed a meningioma from my right frontal lobe. We thought that the procedure would take about 4 hours, however the tumor had other ideas. It was very near and partially touching a small artery and she decided to get it all, no matter what it takes. In addition, the tumor had calcified where it was touching the blood vessel. This meant that she had to remove tiny chips from the calcified tumor, a very slow and tedious process. At the end of it all. she had removed the entire tumor, and lining around it. from start to finish, the 4 hour procedure turned into an 10 hour marathon for her and her team. I cannot express enough gratitude to her and her team. I was a new man when I woke the next morning. I had not realized how much of my daily routine this tumor had caused.The surgery has also probably saved my eyesight. I was deceived into thinking I would recover from my back surgery. Dr. Leonardo lacks communication, empathy and has poor bedside manner. I would not recommend her.

Wonderful staff, couldn’t be happier with how they were so timely, friendly and professional but Jody Leonardo is a poor specialist. Zero people skills, very abrasive, Arrogant and poor listener she constantly inturrps and wants to hear what she wants to hear. If you go to her be prepared to walk out when she starts to gloat about herself and belittle your intelligence. I wish I did! There are real caring doctors and specialist out there. Don’t settle.

Long wait time, rushed interactions, she offered absolutely zero insight or problem solving. She said flatly that if she cannot see the issue on my images she cannot help. She gave no recommendations. It was an utterly pointless appointment. Her interpersonal skills are the worst I have ever experienced with a doctor. I wish I had video because her reactions were so cold and smarmy it seemed like a parody. She may have skills as a surgeon but unless you have clear evidence of what needs to be fixed I would stay away. And you better have and thick skin because if your symptoms don't match her (outdated) opinion she will make you feel like dirt.

Her gross neglect and arrogance cost me a year of my life . She thought I was lying to her and just wanting pain meds and surgery. She misjudged me and treated me so poorly , I have a team of lawyers ready to hold her accountable . Stat away from this arrogant mean mean person .

She is extremely gifted with the ability to explain complicated medical scenarios in an understandable way. In addition, she is warm and friendly. I highly recommend her.

She is wonderful. Takes time with you and answers all questions.

Dr. Leonardo is an amazing Dr. She is very skilled at her craft and takes the time to talk through all the complexities of having major surgery. I would much rather wait a while for my appointment (as I know she is treating someone else as I want to be treated) than be shuffled in and out quickly like a number on a chart. She preformed a major surgery on me several years ago in another city and I now travel to Pittsburgh for additional care as I know she is the best Dr. I can get for my condition.

I was referred to DR Leonardo by a neuro surgeon in Erie Pa. and I will always be grateful. Dr Leonardo ALWAYS made me the top priority as a patient. She gave my family and my wife as much time as we needed to make us comfortable with the procedure I was about to undergo. I have a third ventricle cyst that needed to be removed and I went under surgery approximately 3 weeks ago. 3 weeks later I'm home with my family , back to work and again enjoying life. I would like to Thank my Wife, Family, Dr Leonardo and God for the new chance I have been given!!
