Dr. Jody T Ryan, MD

I saw this guy when he was a resident in Toronto, 1999. I was a suicidal alcoholic. Not the most cheerful I ever was. This "doctor" said he thought that I really "just needed to lighten up"!!! What a jerk.

Dr. Ryan is unresponsive along with his staff. I needed to get a renewal on my prescription. Requests were sent to the office ten and eight days prior to my running out. The day before I ran out I called his office and verified the fax number and had the pharmacy send it again. I called and verified the office had received the request. I then called his cell phone and left a message asking for help and stating that I had only 1 pill left. The next morning at the pharmacy, no response. They called the office, response was got it sent on to his other office. I went down to his "other office". The doctor was out (it was lunch time). For a variety of reasons they didn't want me to wait in their facility until he came back. They called his cell phone and he didn't respond to them either. The people who threw me out of there suggested that I go to an emergicenter?? The problem? It had been over a year since I'd seen him. But I had sent request ten days before so there would have been time to… resolve, if someone called me and explained. My understanding is that these drugs are strong and should not be stopped all at once. Since it had been a year since I had seen my current mental health physician that I had been seeing for two years and had been taking the medications for six, the office's solution was that it would be better to go see an emergi center physician who doesn't know me from Adam and try and convince him to give me serious psych medicine. What??? Lack of concern for the patient reaks through his entire operation. So I'll be going cold turkey. I simply got no response from anyone until I went down to his "other office" and they said they wouldn't give me any either if I hadn't had in appointment for over a year and I left empty handed without even seeing or them talking to the doctor. After all this, along with another call to his cell phone. Three hours later no response.........

Dr Ryan helped me out of a horrible situation. I like the way he continually involves me when recommending further treatment. Not just a blanket response that I will be on this medication for the rest of my life. He takes the time to encourage the thought that an end is in sight, but let's me do it at the pace that I am comfortable with.
