Dr. Josephine Maria L Tutino, MD

I was experiencing swollen ankles as a result of blood pressure medication. She spun in her chair and examined her ankles and stated , "You haven't seen swollen ankles. That's nothing. The medication is controlling your blood pressure and I see no need to change the medication." I will not be returning to her office. Getting an insurance referral was a nightmare.

She won't force you to change your habits to healthier ones; but she will never give up mentioning what you should be doing. Her advice has probably kept me alive for an additional ten or more years. Although she no longer does colonoscopies and other GI procedures, she's an excellent GP and I've profited from her thoughtfulness for more than 20 years.

Dr. Tutino is caring and considerate. She spends time with her patients, is willing to communicate with us by phone, and makes referrals to specialists when necessary. She's been my doctor for many years, and I look forward to staying with her for many more years!

My visit was a complete mistake. Dr. Tutino is an absolutely disgusting person. She is rude, obnoxious, and has no idea how to act towards a patient. I had not been feeling well when I visited her office, and Dr. Tutino was disrespectful from the beginning. I tried to tolerate her obnoxious personality, but when I asked specific questions about a procedure that she recommended, she was immediately dismissive, and spoke with extreme disdain, saying, "What difference does it make? You're wasting my time." It is bad enough to feel sick, but to be treated disrespectfully by a doctor is unbelievable. If you want a doctor that cares about you, please go somewhere else. I would never recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Tutino is an excellent physician. She is knowlegeable and pays attention to her clients. She won't give you unnecessary medications, expects compliance from her patients, and really appears to care. She won't venture beyond her field of expertise and expects you to follow up with specialists when needed. However, like most old school physicians she has limited knowledge of alternative medical treatments (I felt that I knew more about a the effectiveness of accupuncture, hypnosis, and herbal medications for my chronic stomach ailments than she did). Also, she is only in her office three days a week and doesn't have office staff coverage (besides the answering service) when she's not in.

Dr. Tutino gives me the time and attention few doctors give. Additionally she calls me with results of tests if there is something to discuss - and does this well in advance of the next appointment.She is thorough and to the point. I will always continue to use her as my physician.
