Dr. Joe R Fite, MD

Dr. Fite is a very kind and caring doctor. He listens to my complaints and is genuinely concerned about my well being. He is very intelligent and will tell you the truth about your health no matter what. That is what a patient should want. I would recommend him to all my friends and family.

I had gained about 30lbs in a matter of 2-3 months. My lower back was giving me some pains and I was wanted to know why I was puting on all this weight. I normally weigh about 115-117 and I was like 150 in a matter of 2-3 months. I didnt have a doctor so I went to the ambulatory care. Getting the appointment was easy as pie. I just walked right in, filled out the necessary paperwork. It was about 10:00am. I sat thier patiently, I should have said something sooner but you know how dr.s offices are. To me waiting hours is normal. Next thing I know the lights start turning off in the waiting room. I went to the desk, (I was the only one in the waiting room besides this other woman waiting for her ride. They was just like sorry sorry sorry. Me still being patient I was like whatever, I just wanted to be seen. This was now 11:30 and they were shutting down for lunch but he did see me before he left for lunch, which he should have, it was thier mistake. Well I get back there and never… even bothered to run any test other than a urine test. The Nurse seemed really concerned and was surprised he did no more that what he did. She was really nice, I wish I could remember her name because she was very compassionate and seemed to really care but yet not understand why he did no more that he did. My urine test turned out to be fine. He told me that I was over weight and that I was a pretty girl and just needed to lose the weight and my problems would be fixed and I would be much prettier. Then I was sent home. I was crying when I left the Ambulatory care unit just thinking I was fat and ugly. He help in a negative way with my selfesteem. All of that with a 90 dollar doctor visit just to tell me I was fat and just needed to lose weight and then I would be even more beautiful. It really hurt my feelings, and I paid 90 dollars just to be told to lose weght. I finally got out of there at 12:30 or so. I am now down to 102 and this is partially because of his comments. They really affected me. I should have told him that his words really hurt me. He could have ran more test but it interferred with his lunch. Now I am seeing another Dr. to help me and have found out that there was a lot more going on than he had time for. This was the first time I have seen Dr. Fite and u can bet ur rear it was my last. His choice of words really offended me and he was ready to eat(wasnt my fault they forgot about me)so he did not care to spend anytime on me. I was very disappointed with this visit, nothing got done, I sat there for 2 1/2 hours basically waiting but I still gotta pay full price. It just isnt right. I didnt need a dr to tell me that, I could have got that advice from any random off the street for free. Why a urine test and no blood work....Wait....it was lunch time.... I will never see Dr. Fite agian. From my experience he is not very compassionate torwards others feeling and when you are a Doctor I think that is a necessary quality to have compassion and professionalism and the ability to diagnose a patient. I mean come on, we go to the doctor to get better, not to be told you are overweight and just lose it. Bloodwork should have been done but he had lunch to do. But I still have to pay this man..... Im still trying to figure out why.......
