Dr Joehassin Cordero

First and foremost, Dr. Cordero is a nice guy and so is his staff. I’m sure they are all wonderful people. The policies of their practice do not make sense though, and the care I received was not great either. 1. The front office requires all medical records to be faxed over prior to making the appointment because “Dr. Cordero needs to review these records ahead of scheduling the appointment.” The referral from your Primary is not enough. I faxed them over, and they were immediately ready to schedule minutes later when I called. So no, reviewing the records prior to scheduling is not a requirement. It was a ridiculous idea to even say, and I honestly laughed when they gave that reason for not scheduling me. 2. A CT scan must be accomplished within the last 6 months prior to scheduling an appointment. You cannot simply say, “I have one scheduled next Wednesday, so can I schedule my appointment with you the following week?” No. It must be done before scheduling, and they must receive… the electronic record as proof that you had a CT scan completed. So basically, they don’t trust the patients to get it done, and it delays care when they are scheduling two weeks out and the CT was also scheduling two weeks out. Requiring both the records and CT record sent over prior to scheduling would suggest that a physician will review these prior to your appointment, but obviously, there are not enough hours in the day for that. The schedulers are gatekeepers that delay care due to policies that do not make any sense or add any value for the patients. 3. I have a two hour drive to get to the clinic, but that’s my only option. I asked if the initial appointment could be a virtual one because I know it’s an initial consult where they are going to ask questions about my medical history that could be answered by my records and CT results. Four hours of driving for a ten minute appointment seems pretty extreme. I was told, “no, all new patients must be seen in person by Dr. Cordero.” Okay, cool, so I’m really glad that my ten minute appointment included two four-minute question and answer sessions about my family history, looking in my nose, touching my sinuses, and then meeting Dr. Cordero for two minutes. Ultimately, I came in with a number of symptoms I have been experiencing for almost three months. The physician who saw me and later Dr. Cordero came in seemingly with a conclusion already, and the treatment/follow-on referral were not connected to my actual symptoms. The arbitrary policies of the practice delayed my less than stellar care that I received by at least a month. Again, the people are nice though. Also, in this area of the country, I’m sure this place is the best around, so go with them if you have to. Just be prepared for policies that make no sense.

Dr. Cordero was attentive and willing to answer numerous questions. He is quite knowledgeable, yet communicates effectively on a layperson’s level. I’m thankful he will be my son’s new ENT.

I am extremely pleased after meeting Dr. Cordero after my consultation visit. He was very knowledgeable and was able to explain my situation well. He was not rushed to be in and out but took all the time I needed to answer questions and explain the surgery that he would need to perform. I feel very confident and at ease going into surgery knowing he will be the one doing it. I would highly recommend!

Dr Cordero was very knowledgeable, attentive, and kind in his interactions with me. He addresses other people in the room, such as family members. He always has a smile and makes sure all questions are complete prior leaving the room. And when we were leaving, he had already documented the visit so we had documentation to return to the VA for better equipment. Amazing doctor!
