Dr. Joel Richard Lewis Ehrenkranz, MD

Does anyone know where Dr. Ehrenkranz' practice is located? He has left the Ferguson location and I would love to keep him as my Dr. He always took the time to ensure thyroid levels were at a level where I felt my best

Dr. Ehrenkranz saved my life. For more than five years, I experienced the most extreme symptoms of not getting enough thyroid hormone. He looked at my chart and immediately recognized the problem. He raised my levothyroxine dosage and told me I would be normal in three months. Next week will mark the end of three months and my physical ailments are nearly gone. I'm amazed he could tell me exactly how long it would take. I was scheduled for a follow-up with him but he has left TMC One. I would really like to find him.

Per IHC policy, Dr. Ehrenkranz managed my endocrinology care while I was hospitalized following neurosurgery. My normal endocrinologist could not cover my post-op care while hospitalized. Dr. Ehrenkranz refused to prescribe hydrocortisol when I had had a pituitary tumor resection and wasn't producing cortisol naturally. I could have died. I have little memory of those few days, but do remember him waking me to ask why I felt so bad. I remember being scared of him and feeling he was angry with me, but I was only intermittently conscious. Finally my neurosurgeon took him off my care and prescribed the life saving medicine himself. I quickly stabilized, improved, and was able to go home a few days later. In addition, Dr. Ehrenkranz more than doubled my Synthroid dosage immediately post-op when I had been on a stable level for more than a decade. It was unnecessary, inexplicable, and caused me to become hyperthyroid until my regular endocrinologist could intervene and change my… prescription back to my regular levels. I still have nightmares about Dr. Ehrenkranz.

Called to speak to him and he was a complete jerk. Said I'd need either a referral or to be in a hospital and I asked if I had a referral when he'd be able to see me and he said he doesn't take out patients which makes no sense if I had a referral like he said. Complete jerk. I would never recommend him.

He is a horrible doctor. He carries this old bag that makes him look ridiculous. I would definitely seek a second opinion if recommended to see him.

Dr. Joel RL Ehrenkranz saved my life when I was suffocated from a misdiagnosed substernal goiter. He has my undying gratitutde and respect. He ACTED for me when others did not.
