Dr. Joel Louis Frazier, MD

After having a bad fall while hiking, Dr. Frazier repaired my wrist and hand (torn tendon and ligament). He did an excellent job and scars were minimal. Would go back to him in an instant!

10 years later I'm still having trouble after a wrist scope performed by Dr Frazier. He barely explained anything before or after the surgery, but I was a young kid and he was confident so I went along with him. He went in for some maintenance of torn tissue, but afterwards I learned that he shaved down a lot of bone in my wrist--which a later surgeon was confounded by and said was unnecessary. My hand and wrist will never be the same. Many years later I went back to him with pain in my wrists, and he recommended an extreme surgery. It scared me into getting a second opinion, where I learned that nothing in my charts or tests could possibly show such an extreme surgery necessary--only another arthroscopic surgery could tell what was wrong since the first surgery left damage that deemed the test results useless. He's nice, but my second visit after I grew older gave me the sense that he's overconfident and in a rush. His first surgery left gigantic scars on my wrist whereas my new… surgeon left tiny scars for the same procedure (though I admit I don't know how much technology improved in between). See him at your own risk. 2 stars instead of 1 only because he was nice and I'll never be able to be completely certain of how much he screwed me up.

He is very direct, upfront and won’t sugar coat it. He acts with Integrity, always helpful in my follow up care. Helps me to be very proactive in my own care. Educational at times, and more importantly down to earth. Someone I can relate too. With his 30 plus years of experience I highly recommend him for all hand to elbow medical care.

I have been seeing Dr. Frazier for about a year and found he listens to me, and he is very intuitive about all my hand problems. I have never waited the average of 34 minutes reported to get in to see him. He is a problem solver and very kind.

He is an efficient, kind, man. He doesn't rush, he explains everything, tries not to hurt me when I get steroid injections in my elbow.

I was very excited about finding a doctor that was extremely confident towards my issue of a static rotated scaphoid in my right. Upon initial consultation with Dr. Frazier I was confident I would one day be restored to 60-70% use of my wrist using a partial wrist fusion (my only option). After the surgery began the physical therapy (PT). During PT the pain never got any better, to the contrary it worsened immensely. I finally was listened too and rescheduled to see Mr. Frazier to which I was sure the pain would be diagnosed and the issue corrected. Upon being seen, I was sent to x-ray and no issue was found. I was given a cortisone injection in the tendon jacket and generally throughout the wrist. I continued to PT until the pain was unbearable. (I have sutured my own leg so I can take pain). After another six months I went to the VA and with only one set of x rays it was found that three screws were too long, which led to soft tissue being torn. The other three were backing out.… The VA suggested all hardware be removed and also future arthroscopic surgery to remove the destroyed soft tissue. So now I am healing up from the removal, with a partially fused wrist, severe continual pain, and now looking at another surgery. On top of this I can no longer do my job which involves hand tools so I now am losing a 75K Government job not to mention all the sick leave I will never get back. I may be a rare case but at 35 years of age I would think fusion would be a last resort (also agreed to by other doctors). Make your own assessment but also be through, as your choice of a doctor could alter the rest of your life. (Never feel badly about getting a second opinion)

I seen Doctor one time for maybe 5 mins and he told me I was going to need surgery. He wasn't very friendly at all, but It was my first time seeing him so I thought maybe he was having a bad day. So a few days later I was back to have surgery on my finger. He came into my room before surgery at see what pain meds worked best for me. I told him I wasn't really sure because I haven't really had to take any. He named one that I had taken before and I said that it worked for me and he left the room. Well I remembered that, that pain meds made my throw up. So we get in the OR and the nurse tells him that the meds I told him would work would not work. So he gets mad and he said F**K. Right after that I was asleep. After the surgery he didn't inform my sister that everything went well, in fact he didn't talk to her at all. While I'm in the recovering room he is standing there and I tell him I'm sorry about the meds and thanked him for making my finger better. He just walked off and acted like… I wasn't even there. He didn't tell me how the surgery went or anything. I didn't get a look at my finger until the next day and when I seen what he did to my finger I was in shock. He made one LONG cut, not even a straight cut. ( He had told me that he would make 2 small cuts just a few days before. ) So I counted the stitches ( which looks like a small child did it) and there are 12 stitches, but they are spaced way out. There should have been 4 or 5 more stitches put in. It's been about a week now since the surgery and I have an infection in it ( I'm keeping it clean and dry) It's still swollen and has busted open in many places. He is a VERY rude doctor and has NO bedside manners at all. I still don't know why my cut is so long. I will never go back to him and I dang sure won't be telling anyone to go see him. I will be informing my doctor about Frazier, so that way she won't send anyone else to him.

I was shocked at my appointment yesterday with this doctor. He performed Surgery on my wrist back in Jan. I had a screw put in the bone. I proceeded to tell him it still hurts and he was very rude and couldnt care less. This was at 4pm when my apoointment was at 2:30pm. I will NEVER return to this doctor. DO NOT USE DR FRAIZER.

I chose this doctor based on high reviews. The initial visit he was distant, not really rude but arrogant, I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he is having a bad day. Now on the 4th visit attitude not changing, while your talking to him he gets up and leaves the room- he was done. Summary- Dr. Frazier is cold does not listen and is very jaded, not a people person..... Yes I am seeking a second opinion.

I'm amazed that no one else has any complaints. I've had nothing but problems with this office. Sure the doctor seemed competent, but he had a poor bedside manner & barely acknowledged my presence. Two weeks after my surgery, he still hasn't told me how it went or what he did. On multiple occasions I've had to wait over an hour past my appt time for the doctor to show up & twice have had them reschedule appts on me (inlcuding surgery). I came away from the experience feeling like I was intruding on their time & won't be recommending them.
